What would you prefer? A full expansion or multiple DLC?

I would hate it if the dlcs were all lets go kill the medieval nazis, it's a stupid idea, this isn't halo, it's impossible that any groups could actually take on the thalmor belevably and it would be a return to the old all necromancers and conjurers are evil way of doing things.

Hello Dragonborn? The guy who can tear the sky open and ravage an army with a Shout? The guy who now has a unified Skyrim standing behind him?

so one guy who can shout is somehow going to take down a government that controls a good portion of the map and has far better resources.

this is not halo, you are not a super soldier, there also is no reason that a elven dragonborn wouldn't want to join the thalmor.

Play the main quest line. That should answer both of your questions.

Just want to post this http://cloud.steampowered.com/ugc/651000136537792393/3CBC8BF917081B961A8C8CF56789BED62EC71AE9/ of a pass going into Morrowind...seems...interesting. Look at the top left corner. I swear I can feel the word YET after that sentence...

Has anyone noticed that the left side of the map has a lot more open/non-traversable terrain than the right side of the map? If anything adds on to the size of the existent map, I suspect that's where it will be added.

Both, personally.

Multiple DLC adding specific content to Skyrim, creating new opportunities, adding to, expanding on, beefing up (think factions, quests, items, features etc) etc and then a full expansion that might take us out of Skyrim, somewhere new (or even old).

I wish there was an expansion where we would go to the Aldmeri Dominion's homeland and burn everything. I don't want to wait another 5 years for that.

I would, personally.

The last war with the Thalmor occurred across multiple provinces, saw an entire legion destroyed (and a Thalmor battleforce) and all the others battered below half strength.

A full on war should be huge, and the Dominion's homeland? Should be at least as detailed as Skyrim or Morrowind. That's practically a whole game in itself (if they did manage an epic war and a fully realized new land in a single expansion then I think I might call Bethesda the greatest game makers ever).

I'd prefer a big expansion over little DLCs. Like others have mentioned, we need one to bring the fight to the Thalmor! Even after the MQ and Civil War it all felt so unfinished because the Thalmor haven't gotten much payback for having masterminded all the terrible crap they started in Tamriel.

Also, as a PC gamer I'm of the opinion that small content additions are better left to the modding community, some mods end up bigger than official DLC and it just looks pathetic in comparison, no reason to spend money on them especially not right away. For an expansion I'd buy it immediately but for DLC I'll wait for a bundle of them.

How about both?

The Dragon Age: Origins method was perfect, imo. They started with a couple of DLC side missions (Warden's Keep, Return to Ostagar), then went forward with a full on expansion (Awakening), then followed it up with a few mini-expansions (Golems of Amgarrak, Witch Hunt). Throw in a few item packs (Feast Day gifts/pranks), and a couple of side stories (Leliana's Song, Darkspawn Chronicles), and you have pretty much the best possible collection of DLC ever... sure it calculates out to be pretty expensive if bought without discount (a little more than $90 for everything), but still... its a damn great collection of DLC, and I think any genre game would be wise to follow suit.

playing the side story lines makes it seem that the thalmor are no different than the empire and the nords are just as racist as the thalmor, in short i would rather join them then help the nords do to all elves what they currently do to only dark elves.

voted Full expansion coming from Bethesda but with mods in mind coming from unofficial moders.
I would bet they will come up with a full expansion and official DLC (which may in fact originate from unofficial mods) at last for consoles as PC users have more possibilities.

I honestly don't really mind which happens, even though I did enjoy all of FO:NV DLC's, I would most likely lean more towards those than waiting for an expansion.
That being said, with how much Morrowind is mentioned in Skyrim, if we were able to return there, that'd be enough for me, I could wait the next 5 years for a new game involving the Thalmor, or deal with a few DLC's over the next year or two, lame or not.

Multiple expansions or one quality expansion with DLC content getting pumped out. But if it really is just a choice between DLC and expansions, I'll obviously take what offers more focused and quality content (i.e. expansions).

I dont really like DLC. I have tried the Fallout 3 & Dragon Age Origins DLC, but that was only after I had purchased the GOTY editions.

I enjoyed playing them, but I would have felt ripped off if I paid full price.

I blame horse armour for the whole DLC trend!

DLC from every game I've seen are a dissatisfying quick ruboff that developers will only bother with for less than year. Expansions are usually a commitment to the game long-term and the quality thereof.

Howard couldn't yet share plans for DLC, but he says it will be focused on "ways to make the game better, not just have more, because the game is so big.

This quote is very discouraging. Makes it sound like they won't focus on new content(new areas and questlines) but rather gameplay features.

Heh, I bet my left kidney that despite the poll Bethesda does multiple Fallout 3-sized DLC's.

We all know Bethesda is going to release DLC for this game, but what would you guys prefer?

Multiple DLC similar to their previous games, basically linear quest lines featuring more focused but tiny areas with fewer, if any places to explore.
Or
An expansion that adds many new areas to explore, for example they could give us a city or two in one of the other provinces, such as Sentinel in Hammerfell and the surrounding land with it's own quests, towns, and caves to explore.

Personally I'd love if Bethesda completely drops what they did for FO3 and Oblivion so they could make an expansion that adds tons of new content.

They already said they are doing what they did with FO3, which is completely different than what they did with Oblivion. With Oblivion they added one huge expansion dlc and a bunch of tiny useless ones, Fallout had a few pretty big sized dlc's that all sent you to a new area, with tons of new content.I would prefer if they did both large and small.

Why not do both like with Oblivion? It had a lot of small DLC as well as Shivering Isles, which was a full-blown expansion.

If I had to go with one or the other, though, I choose the full-blown expansion. Essentially, all the DLC for Oblivion was merely a professionally made mod that you had to pay for. They didn't really add new mechanics or do things that a typical modder could not have done just by using the CS. In fact, there were a bunch of Horse Armor mods specifically made to spite the official DLC pack so players could enjoy more variety and better looking sets without paying $5 for two models and textures. Not to mention several player homes and factions that were the same or greater quality in design and function that Battlehorn Castle and the Wizard's Tower offered.

If I am going to spend money on something, I want it to be worthwhile. I don't like paying $5 here, $10 there for minor little things. I'd rather just drop $30-40 on a package with TONS of new content at once.

I really love DAO, but most of its DLCs and its expansion were of poor quality for various reasons. This is not the place to discuss that, though.

As Todd indicated it make sense to not create small DLCs. The game is already huge. They would be lost in the existing content. Substantial content or content that enhances the gameplay is a sensible route to take. They can take their time with it. In the meantime there is already lots to do. I clocked a lot of hours but I haven't done all the quests and visited all locations on the map, nor did I investigate all skill trees. ;) I can wait.
