What is wrong here ( ATI)

I had rage working perfectly with the ATI beta driver and the patch (yes i know this driver hass issues with other opengl games not the issue). After a day or two playing rage i came out of the aera where you fight the jackels and started getting sheering like the videocard or system was over heating. I shut the game down and it forced a system crash. The system proceeded to be unstable untill i finally forcfully uninstalled the driver and reinstalled the standard 11.9 since then i have had no issues with rage or anything else crashing anymore. I am baffled because i know some others have said this happened but people blamed there pcs but after extensive testing for days and not having any crashes i cannot replicate it untill i put that driver back in again.

My radeon is a 6870 xfx
processor is a intel i7 920
memory is made by hatichi and is running at 667 hertz ( if you want i can get the cast lentacy and stuff later on)
Hardrive is a seagate 1 terabyte 7200 rpm
motherboard is a Asus p6t se with onboard sound network card.

Additionaly the driver seems to be causing a registry change that doesnt allow my fans on the card would not run beyond 35% ever and at max load for a long time the card would start going over90 degrees ( XFX explained the issue as this and only a reinstall or ati afterburner would fix it. I am also sending this with more details from log files to ati to hopefully give them an idea but atm i once again can't play rage which is why i put this here as well. I would like to know if any others besides have had these odd glitchy issues because the only thing that isn't constant in my system through out all this was the install of rage and the driver changes.

Dunno i have no problems with the game or the graphics card on my end and i have hd 4830, Phenom II x3 720, 4 GB DDR2 1066mhz CL5 and mobo is Asus M3A78-T 790GX chipset. And after the drivers forboth mobo and GPU the game decided to magically start working properly try to disable HT on that core i7 - some games these days don't cope with that kind of technology especially if the mobo wasn't updated.

Interesting prospect but if i use any other of the "glitchy" drivers the game does not crash the system or have issues besides the graphical glitches was only that driver that caused it.
