What's Wrong With Camp Forlorn Hope?

Post » Fri May 13, 2011 3:41 pm

I've always had problems with Camp Forlorn Hope. I can run through the rest of the Wastes without tons of lag or freezing, but when I get to Forlorn Hope the game just crashes on me instantly. This really svcks because I'm trying to get the Platinum trophy and finishing Return To Sender is one of my missing trophies. If anyone an tell me if there's any fix for Forlorn Hope's crashes or if you are experiencing these bugs too please reply.

Its most likely due to a glitch where tons of legion troops spawn in the center of the camp and fight it out with the NCR troops when you get near.

Can you fast travel there and confirm if this is the case or does it freeze every time you get close?

You are right, every time I go there there is about 5-10 Legion soldiers that instantly spawn when I walk over there. Should I walk up to CFH and wait for the NCR to wipe out the Legion then walk in?

The large amount of legion troops can take out the soldiers at the camp fairly easily if you're not far enough into the game. Once you hit a certain point there will be heavy NCR troopers and Ranger vets around to take them out but there's a chance the legion guys may kill the NCR troops if you're early into the game. The only way to be sure everyone lives is to help them kill the legion which will obviously net you some bad legion reputation and if your game always freezes here every time you won't be able to do it anyways.

IF the game will allow you my advice is to kill off all of the legion troops and try to do any of the quests within three days before the dead legion guys reset...then avoid the camp like the plague until the problem has been fixed.

Alright I'm in the game far enough that the Vets are there and they can probably take them out ok. I'll get close and see what happens.

The Legion soldiers are scripted to spawn whenever the player is approaching Camp Forlorn Hope from any 'south' direction.
There should be no problems approaching from 'north' directions. I usually fast travel to Delta station (or Boulder City)
then head to the camp.

Forlorn Hope froze on me three times out of the four that I've been there. I also got some ridiculous frame rate. It never spawned Legionares, but I only entered it after obliterating Nelson. It did spawn bloatflies a couple of times, though.

When I fast travel there they always attack, I'll try approaching from the North but I don't see how it'll make a difference.
