What's wrong with the WALK in Skyrim? You can never keep up with a NPC that walks, never..
It's like the player walk is slower than the NPC walk, so when you are role playing *shrugh*

You end up walking\running\walking\running or just running as the walking with a NPC just fails when you need to follow them, is this ment to be?

With the Console controller you can adjust the walk speed. On the PC, it's hurry up and wait.

However, I think there is a mod that fixes this if your on the PC. Check over at the Nexus.

Yeah this is very annoying. Even as an Altmer with the longest gait you can't keep up with a Bosmer! It is a little immersion destroying doing the skip-walk to follow an NPC.

I'd like it sorted too.

I need to figure out what the normal walking speed of an NPC is so I can set it right on PC.
I read that I could do this in console "player.setav speedmult 100" is normal, so anything above is faster walk speed.
But I need to figure out as I said, NPC walk speed. How do I do that?

Never worked for me but that could have been a mod conflict. Try it and see if this works for you.

Just use this mod
http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/1931

I don't recommend the mod linked in the post above mine, very easy to have conflicts when a mod changes the speeds of every NPC.

No, too many changes.
But thanks for the tip.

I just want to change my walking speed.
So maybe you or anyone else could tell me what the normal walking speed of a NPC is so I can fix it myself thru console?

I assume you are playing on the PC?

As has been said, on the xbox (and as such I assume PS3?) you can adjust the speed you walk/run using the controller's thumb sticks. Being a military-orientated person, I try to match my character's steps to the NPC whom i'm following. Yeah, a bit extreme, I know, but I find it works. There is one quest that bugs me as no matter how close/far away you get from said NPC, she will constantly stop and turn to face you.

There's a sweet spot where they won't look over their shoulder every ten steps, but it's hard to stay in the zone with the dodgy speeds.

I'll check out those mods, so thanks to the posters and the OP for raising it.

The thing about walk and run speeds that really annoys me is that I can't even outrun a skeever without mods to fix it. Did not know that consoles could adjust their walk speed. I wonder why this was not done for pc as well.

Boy I sure do miss athletics right about now.

http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/1603. it works great, been using it since February. Make sure to download the application as well.

EDIT: Also see http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/9553.

I didn't know till last week PC players couldn't control it. I figured with all the buttons you have at your disposal, you'd have a button for everything. Slow Walk, Walk, Fast Walk and the same backwards and about everything in between ;) Seems silly not to let you guys do it to be honest *shrugs*

Skyrim never had PC development, mate, it's a straight Xbox port. Chances are with an Xbox controller we can but most people use a Keyboard and Mouse. The NPC running animation annoys me too. It's like watching a Wildlife documentary on Primates.

This is why I don't always understand everything that the PS3 users complain about BUT let's not talk about that here or ever. I found out last week that you can use an xbox controller on the PC! I am seriously considering upgrading my lump and then to purchase Skyrim for it. Might be nice to play some mods. The only reason I don't already is the idea of 101 buttons put me off. I like things simple such as with the controller.

This is the mod I use, too. It comes with an easy-to-use utitlity that allows you to change four speeds: player run, player walk, horse run, horse walk. A must-have mod for me.

So people have no idea about a mod that JUST make your walk speed the same as NPC and leave everything rest alone?

You're more than welcome to check the Nexus for yourself. It might be quicker than asking here and hoping one of us finds the mod you want.

some benefits of having anolog sticks.
Idea has anybody tried one anolog stick for movement and mouse for turning and aiming?

Anyway, following npc I behave pretty much like a dog does then you take it for an walk, all over the place picking flowers and looking at stuff.

It doesn't excist. Every mod that changes the walking speed for player to be like NPC will also alter something else in the game that I don't want. Heh.

Did you not read what I wrote? The mod BarrettsFloyd and I already recommended to you will allow you to change only the player walking speed, if that is want you want.

It's my pet peeve in the game, second only to the fact time flies by! I believe on a PC you can change that but for me, being on a 360, i'm stuck.

*Go into tiny cave in the AM. Exits after dark. Huh?* Really can't stand that :(
