So what do you guys do for a living?

Post » Wed Jan 02, 2013 11:16 am

I'm 25 years old and hold a CDL and am employed. Easy job, great money, leaves me a lot of time to surf the web when staying at pick up areas for a prolonged time (Longest was in Wyoming for 2 days. What a boring place)

I work on the service desk of a New Zealand government department, for the Australian division of a large Japanese company.

It's a pretty good job, to be honest. The users we support are really good people, and for the most part, quite knowledgeable about IT themselves. We also have quite a bit of flexibility for level 1 support (if you've ever worked in an ITIL or ISO 20k type environment you know how restrictive policy can be sometimes), and I work with a really good group of people.

Well I'm on SSI and DHS due to a handicap I have but to keep somewhat active I've started doing videos and posting them on YouTube and I've gotten quite good at it...to bad there's not a huge profit in Oklahoma for a video editor at least not with out a collage degree or something.

I am 20, 21 in March.

I work at a...oh geeze, what would you call it? It's one of those clubs named after a animal (Like the water buffalo in The Flinstones). I help out with the events there. Despite me mainly being hired as a busboy, I also rose in the ranks to help the cook and baker get food ready too! I love the people there (Both members and workers), and I get a lot of compliments on my work! I live right next to it as well

I did try a community college but...the environment didn't give me a good impression at all :meh:

I'm 22 and take classes at the University of Michigan part time where I'm majoring in and working towards getting a bachelors degree in business/marketing and I'm minoring creative writing.

My father created and owns a farm/construction equipment sales and rental business where I've worked for a long time. Alot of manual labor is part of the job no matter what position you're in but about 11 months ago I was promoted to the overseer of all the sales and marketing after I finally secured a very large sale for several pieces of equiment.

Computer programmer and systems administrator... or rather was. Eventually made myself ill with stress after many years of over-work and haven't managed to recover yet. Er, don't do that.

I don't know about all this. Sounds like some sort of Russian spy mischief to me....

I see you mention one thing about the "Motherland" we'll be on to you...

I've been on SSI too but I want to make money. I can't do anything online now because of a bank account problem and if I get a job it has to be part time for SSI to continue being sent.

One man IT shop for a local optometry and affiliates. They've been very generous with letting me control my schedule while I'm in school and actually appreciate me, so I can't complain.

Yeah you have to carful if you're on SSI and part time working, you can't go over 900 or 1000 dollars a month or Social Security will pull your benefits and slap you with a fine quicker then you can blink.
