What do you hoard in Skyrim?

Post » Mon Aug 06, 2012 7:40 am

Now oblivion had alot of useless items, but Skyrim, thou art a hoarders paradise. Be it Daggers, Bugs in Jars, Bowls (my favorite) or, just those useless linen wraps, what do hoard?

My scholarly Dunmer hoards ancient Nord artifacts, my perpetually stoned Argonian hoards skooma and Sleeping Tree Sap, my lush of a Nord hoards anything alcoholic, my Khajiit thief hoards shiny things (silverware, ore ingots, gems - anything that glitters), my Orc warmonger hoards the weapons of his fallen enemies (the worthy ones, not the ones that went down in a single hit), my Bosmer alchemist hoards Nirnroot and my cannibalistic Breton hoards human hearts and flesh. =D

Books, period. I can't bring myself to sell them, with any character, since Morrowind. I don't know why but all of my houses have all the bookshelves and containers full of every book, note, and scrap of paper I find throughout my playthrough.

Souls.... You can never have enough souls. I really wish it kept the names like in Morrowind.

Deadric gear. Skill Books. Named weapons. Nothing really out of the ordinary I guess.

Ragged pants, skooma, moon sugar, pelts, leather, gold ingots and gold ore, Dragon Priest Daggers, arrows of all types, and Elsweyr Fondue. To a lesser extent, books.

Sweetrolls. No, not really. But if I was going to be a serious hoarder, it would be sweetrolls. Maybe sweetrolls and apple pies. And goat cheese wedges, for no reason other than that I'm weird.

Truth be told, the only thing I hoard is gold. Tiberius has 150,000 septims in Honeyside, but he refuses to buy any other house: there's no point, since with only one house, he knows where to find everything.

We all probably hoard septims. In every TES game.

I hoard and collect just about everything, just like I did in Oblivion and Morrowind. I need at least one copy of every book, I keep all the enchanted weapons or gear I find, have at least one full set of every armor and one of every weapon, and I save all my gems and jewlery whether it be enchanted or not. I use some of the stuff to decorate my homes with. I recently just finished the upstairs dining room in Proudspire. I changed all the items on the table to Dwemer cups, plates, bowls etc. The shelves are filled with expensive books, expensive potions and enchanted weapons. I lined the ledge over looking the downstairs with my favorite helmets. Looks really cool. Collecting is really one of my favorite things to do in Elder Scrolls.

Healing potions. I usually have +50 on most characters at one time(I also store some in my house to lower carry weight). I never use them though so I end up with a million of them "just in case" lol.

Same. They aren't as important as ragged trousers, though. I still don't know why I haven't stopped collecting pants. It's been 11 or something months! I should be over the fact that Skyrim has only one type of pair of pants that are standalone.

I have a list of things:
  • Books, notes etc.
  • Daedra Hearts
  • Briar Hearts
  • Vampire Dust
  • Unique Weapons, Armor, Clothing and other
  • Filled Soul Gems
  • Empty Black and Grand Soul Gems
  • Amulets of the Divines
  • "Blessed" weapons
  • Daedric and Dragonbone/scale items(never take the Perks for it so I keep whatever I find/get)
  • Healing and Cure Disease Potions(when I get too many I stash most in my house)
  • Flawless Gems(Garnet, Ruby, Diamond etc)
  • Usually one set of Armor/Clothing for each faction I am a part of
I think that is about it.

Skooma, book series (it bother's me not to own all volumes of A Dance in Fire, for example), stuff connected to my character's roleplay and cups for some reason.

Oh, you know, this and that.

Sadly I never got a picture during the point that it filled the entire room waist-deep.

Hoard, collect, whatever. The game seems to expect you to collect houses. Now I ask you, what use has anyone got for five homes? Six, counting the impressive quarters you get at the end of the Mage's College subquest.

Nirnroot.. I dunno why I'm collecting it though. I always pick it up wherever and whenever I saw one. And never sell it.

The answer is "filling them until you can't walk in the door with gold bars," right?

I love to store things in the empty basemant room in Proudspire. My Argonian has it filled waist-deep with assorted books and letters. My Khajiit has a ton of gems stashed in a safe, and all my characters have truckloads of weapons and armor, ore, and potions. Oh, and Dragon Scales. I never even use Dragon Armor, I just hoard the Scales.
