Poll is filled with people who have no idea what they are talking about but that's the norm I guess.
Am I to take this to mean that since I don't know squat about how graphics/AI/etc are programmed that I can't give an opinion on the end result? That although the vast majority of end-users also do not know squat about same, they they can't have an opinion either?
If you hadn't noticed, every question in the poll is SUBJECTIVE - i.e. the individual's perception of changes from OB. Just because I don't know a texture from a whatchamacallit - oh, a mesh! that's it! - doesn't mean there's something wrong with my eyes.
Back to the OP: I voted graphics 'could be better' simply because I get hard lag from light sources/mist. I'd've put amazing if it wasn't for that because Skyrim is running about 15-30fps higher than OB ever did for me (and I re-played OB just before Skyrim came out on this very same computer). As far as some things looking a bit scroggy - well, I don't spend my time staring at tables or walls or windows. TBPH, I haven't seen much of a difference in Skyrim mods and the original game, although that may be because I'm on a 15" screen. You might say, "Well, I don't care how many fps you have, how does Skyrim LOOK?" To which I reply, "It's a hell of a lot easier to judge that with the vastly improved framerate, now isn't it?" (Suppose that's not strictly graphics, but then, I'm talking out my tail, right?)
Animations - I personally think the finishing animations are a bit cheesy, and break immersion for me by switching me out of first-person view and preventing me from controlling my character for those couple of seconds. When you have other enemies besides the one you so flamboyantly finished off, the finishing moves are VERY distracting. And I agree with the OP about the physics issue, the only thing that seems to have changed is that dead bodies are lighter (tumble/fly farther) and objects can gain enormous velocity with just a tickle. Skyrim's flying objects are much more outrageous and deadly than OB, and that's pretty sad that they actually went backwards in this.
The water doesn't look as good to me, but I got used to a water mod for OB that clarified the underwater view, and another which beautified the surface view. I have a problem with not being able to see more than a few inches into the water - is Skyrim massively polluted or something? I know waterways get cloudy for other reasons IRL (algae, debris, mud, etc), but still pools should be clear unless something just went through it.
AI is much better, but mostly on the PC's side (more 'realistic' responses or non-responses to PC action, particulary thievery). (And THANK YOU Beth for finally fixing the "I accidentally clicked on something and stole it!" problem!) Still, it's incomplete. Baddies still have the just-shoot-me habit of only staring at you, standing nicely in place for a ranged attack, if they can't get to you. Jumping needs to be universal, everything with legs should be able to jump (well, except mammoths). Would make AI alot more responsive with just that - the baddies might actually get you then, and followers would be able to follow alot easier.
Don't know why you didn't poll the UI, I guess cause everyone pretty much agrees it's much worse than OB or previous TES games (or just that the subject has been rehashed so many times).
