What is your experience with 1hcaster spell equipped

Post » Thu May 10, 2012 8:45 am

Hello everyone,

I have been pacing myself and taking time to have fun if that makes sense. I have been reading the strategy book as I'm a complete noob to beth products though I did play arena way back. I have chosen a battle mage wearing heavy armor and dual weilding a weapon and using flames. I have run into a couple questions that has me thinking or creating a different character.

1. I noticed that flames does not have a long range attack....do casters get long range spells like fireball or such? When I went up against the first dragon, I got roasted alive. I ended up using a bow and arrow
2. Is there an auto attack or do I need to be smashing the attack button always?
3. Is there a way to have the hireling to do all the looting rather than to trade
4. Since I'm going to use heavy armor means I need to enchant for magic and magic regen. I think here I need to go to that college place to buy spells and gear ???
5. Any recipes for health and mana for alchemy?

Any other advice that you have come across? I think for now I'm holding off on crafting, maybe once I get to level 20 I'll work on it unless there's a good reason to start now.

Thanks for any help

1. You answered your own question.
2. This isn't WoW.
3. Dont be lazy.
4. The college of winterhold should have better spells.
5. Increase your alchemy skill and try ingredients.

Melee feels clumsier than past titles in my opinion, i haven't touched it once since trying it in the intro, mixing it with a spell felt horrible, just my opinions here remember, so yeah, no melee for me, i roll with a Bow for opening and for as long as i can given the range i have to play with, then when in danger of taking a melee hit i slow the enemy and open up once again with Bow or Magic, i love my class :)

1 handend weapon + spell works great when combined with a healing spell, you can even keep swinning your sword when you are helaing yourself.

Appreciate the response. I am confused on a couple responses as I don't play other games like wow.

2. This isn't Wow... this means what? a simple question asking about battle mechanics. It took me getting my butt kicked to realize I could use flames in both hands after I already had selected the perk in destruction.
3. Don't be lazy - once again, a simple no would of suffice. Calling a player lazy coming to a forum asking for clarification shows how immature of a poster you are.
5. Increase your alchemy skill and try ingredients..... what a wonderful concept, or better yet point me where I can buy potions would of been a better response. Since this is a new game there isn't a set guide yet to help with leveling tradeskills. I rather quest than to go spend hours farming ingrediants without knowing what I am crafting. Just not my play style.

Anyhow thanks for help on questions 1 and 4

I am kind of battlemage. I use 1 handed sword most of time with destruction spell.

I use robe and headwear for magika regen. Also there is a perk that increases magic spell armor as long as u dont wear armor. I always make sure stoneflesh is active.

If i need to pull out the big guns i dual wield the same destruction spell (i have the perk for increase dual spell power).
