I would like to know what your guys favorite companion(s) is.

Mine are Meeko and an argonian Deerkethuss. I don't know if I spelled that right.

Derk or Derkeethus for obvious reasons:

1. He cant die, so I don't have to babysit him.
2. He compliments my character well and so he doesn't get in the way.
3. He's an Argonian.
4. He's cool.
5. He'll always stays right where I left him.
6. He'll never say you're not good looking and move out into the pool house.

Erik the Slayer. For the most part he stays out of the way and his comment's aren't as annoying as some. I like seeing which weapons and armor he chooses out of the ones that my battlemage gives him. His choice of a Storm Atronach scroll in one battle totally suprised me.

I have only ever used 1 follower on 1 character and she was pretty good, aranea lenith.
Dont want to use her on other characters though and do not like any of the other 6 or so I've tried since that since they all frustratingly pull out hunting bows every damn encounter. Bring back the new vegas option of telling them to use melee/ranged. Lydia, jennassa, uthgeerd iona and aela are apparently level 1 archers.

Any female WITH the female animation. My girls do not walk like they are carrying sacks of potatoes. So without using mods, that would narrow it down, quite a bit.

 You let him have a scroll? You're a more trusting soul than I am. I let him have a lightning staff once...he zapped me three times with it, and that was the end of magic item usage for him. :P (Well, outside of his enchanted weapons anyway.)

Erik's my favorite follower so far as well. Non-annoying comments, very useful tank, somehow manages to avoid most of the dungeon traps, and he has an adorable tendency to stick his foot in it and amuse me besides. (Still my favorite example: "Caves sounded more exciting in the bards' songs." -- said while totally ignoring the werewolf directly behind him. :bonk:)

I just went through my first Dwemer ruin with him the other night...I love how he turned into something of a nerd, speculating over the Dwemer's disappearance and going on about how marvelous all the still-working machinery was. He also stays out of my mage's way and is actually decently stealthy for a tank. Definitely a keeper. :D

Although I do like Erandur, too. Nothing like two mages killing everything with fire and lightning to clear out a dungeon.

I never give any follower an "area effect" scroll or staff, I learned my lesson their fairly early.

Yeah I liked the comments in one of the Dwemer Ruins that he made, but we didn't get all the way through as he couldn't seem to get past one trap. Then again my character only got past it useing "being Etheral", though I am sure their IS way to get past it.

I used Marcurio until his death. (Which was one of the most fun experiences in any video game period. I won't go into that, however. =p) Now I switch between the three students at the College.

Aranea, hands down.

The ideal follower is someone who hangs back (so they don't get in the swinging range of your weapons or line of fire of your bows) and can let loose the supporting artillery while you're cuisinarting the opposition. As a battlemage, and equipped with a couple of staves, Aranea is PERFECT.

Marcurio in terms of Skill - he has no trouble blasting enemies apart.
In terms of who I actually prefer though, it was Brelyna Marron until her death in Labyrinthian, and also Lydia.

I have not used too many followers, but of those I have, Faendal is my favorite. He stays out of my way, and does not sarcastically say "I'm sworn to carry your burdens..."

Erandur, from the Vaermina daedric quest. I love his appearance and that accent :D

I could have
Spoiler
killed him for the Skull of Corruption but I would choose him over some staff anytime, since I don't use staves much. I did kill him for the staff on a different save though, just for the Oblivion Walker achievement.

Likely Jordis the Swod maiden, She has a nice personality, and like all housecarls she has respectable endurance in combat.
Probably why one of my characters married her. I haven't really used anyone else as extensively, but Aranea held her ground pertty well too but she's a bit unintersting personality wise.

A dead thrall. They don't talk much, no sarcastic comments, no complaining... just an occasional 'ughhhh'. And if they get killed I just replace them with whoever killed them, that way I should always be improving.

I disagree. Dead thralls always sound so bored and they constantly remind you of it.

Shadowmere. Only because he is the least annoying of the horses and stays outside of dungeons without being told to wait.

You know, I was planning on taking Sven out to meet his death, but I actually like him a lot as a follower. He doesn't talk much, he doesn't boast, he gets shocked when he sees something amazing (like an awesome cave or ruin) or disgusting (like a cave with altars that have bloody cadavers upon them), he doesn't complain when I use him as a pack mule for loot, he's an all around humble guy in comparison to some of the other followers I've had in the game that don't shut up and complain all of the time.

I liked Marcurio too... it was a pity he died in a Dwemer ruin on one of our adventures. He wouldn't shut up about how smart he was though.

It really depends on which character I'm playing as. Erik the Slayer's the perfect travel companion for my Nord, what with his eagerness to please and cheery disposition. He always sounds delighted to have his inventory accessed: "No problem! How can I help?" As for my Imperial, she looks for someone who's easy on the eyes and tough on the field. Aela fits that bill. It's not all business, though - Aela's both her battle buddy and her wife. ;) My Dunmer, well, she's got no stomach for sentimentality. Marcurio's her man when she's delving into crypts and Dwemer ruins, as he seems to have a familiarity with them, while Jenassa's her go-to girl for anything above ground. Earthen passages 'don't agree' with her, after all.
