Whats going on? Vanilla script properties not set to anythin

Something is bugging me a heck of a lot, I was looking to copy the existing ghost turns to ash pile script for one of my features in my mod.

However a straight copy did not work, I soon discovered that the ash pile property which was not set to any “ash pile” form was the problem. Once I did that it worked.

BUT HERE IS THE THING, the vanilla script DID NOT HAVE THE PROPERTY SET! That is why I did not set it in my first attempt. I thought that somehow the property was being set IN THE SCRIPT on the fly.

And today I tried to use the vanilla WhispSpeedBoost magic effect for a vampire and it did not work either, then I saw it was not set to “recover”, I copied to my own magic effect and set it to recover and now it works.

What the heck is going on!?!

I could easily believe this was just mistakes by Bethesda but in the case of the ashpile some how it was still working in the game for the vanilla ghosts. I guess it is possible that there is more than one ashpile script / magic effect and the ONE I looked at was the one that did not have the property set, but I suspect there is more to this than that. Is there some may the unset properties can be “remotely” set from some other part of the game?

But that would not explain the WhispSpeedBoost magic effect not being set to recover.

I am sure I am loading in the UPDATE file when I load my mod file into the CK, so it is not that they are fixed by the update file…
