Post » Sun May 13, 2012 3:58 pm

This is why your game will not make it you guys have been promising a free dlc this whole time and this was for the people who put up with all the lag , no command post which makes the teams so uneven , top level being 20 , the fact that the campain and the freeplay is exactly the same , the fact that you can unlock all guns and attachments in 45 minutes easily and all the oother screw ups i didnt mention ,and because of all the screw ups, you promised us a FREE DLC now that its just about time for it to come out its only free for 2 weeks WTF!!!! I hope that what im reading on the website was a misprint or a screw up. How can you guys promise us something for free and then change your minds that is complete garbage and i will be trading in the game that i thought would be get better for free like you advertised. I just took my money off of RAGE and will never buy a game made with SPLASH DAMAGE or BETHESDA SOFTWARE in it. You guys have completely lyied for the last month to all the people who hung on to the game exspecting a FREE DLC NOT ONLY FOR 2 WEEKS. This should be illegly

Check for other threads on this topic

Most likely if you dl it in the first two weeks you will never have to pay for it... after that two weeks whoever gets it will have to pay for it

They said it will be free... never said it will always be free... basically there giving those people who stuck with it the ability to obtain it for free... but those people who didn't will be out of luck

Quoting from http://bethblog.com/index.php/2011/06/24/update-on-brink-dlc-title-updates-and-new-screenshots/

"Update 6/24: To be clear, as long as you download Agents of Change during the first two weeks it’s available, you’ll always be able to play for free. It’s only after the first two weeks that folks will have to purchase the content on Xbox LIVE, PSN, or Steam. Hope that clears up any confusion."

Hacking and certification process considered, this is very good news.... were getting everything we asked for and people still put a negative spin on it. If you are too lazy to DL a DLC (for free) within a two week period (extenuating circumstances aside) then you deserve to pay the ten dollars or w/e they will be charging for it. If the patches don't fix/improve the gameplay then please, by all means QQ to the moon but until then please stop with your over the top sensationalist bashing of the game because it is not constructive.

That's correct... sorry if there was any confusion. I'm not even sure how you'd be able to charge for DLC after someone downloaded it.

I think most people understand it correctly and are simply commenting on the fact that there was a two week window installed to download it for free. Meaning, that even if you are a person who has supported Brink all this time, but if you stopped playing because the game is not yet playable for everyone, you might miss the two week window. I still love the ideas behind Brink and hope the update works to straighten things out, but I'm afraid that forcing people to download the DLC within a two week period is not the most sympathetic gesture at this point in time. Granted, the real fps competition is still some months away, but I think this will backfire unless the update (not the DLC) delivers.

Im in the middle really. Brink's community seems to be pretty small so i doubt many will miss the two week period. However, its a shady move. Maybe they'll announce another free dlc pack next month as an apology to loyal fans for pulling dodgy stunts.

I thought about something last night... can't you just download the dlc without having the game disc on xbox?... so what's to stop anyone from doing so even if they don't have the game anymore...

And btw... if you can't download it in a span of 14 days then apparently you should have to buy it... I may be being self righteous here but the only types of people who should have a problem are say people who are in the military and are deployed...

People need to quit whining and go click "download now"...

Of course people can download it without the game on ps3/xbox and it shouldn't be hard to get it within the two weeks of release, that's not why most people are complaining.

The issue is that they first said "hey guys you'll be getting a free dlc" and then a month and a half later said "oh and when we said free, we really meant free for only two weeks." It's a shady business tactic of technically not going back on their word to try and recoup some of their loses. And it's not like they're going to make much on it anyways given how easy the dlc will be to get so the best business strategy would have been to leave it free to try and draw more people in and charge for the next one. The game shipped with a small amount of content and getting an extra two maps free makes it a little more worthwhile to pick up the game at retail price.

I think that is what they originally intended but with the other looming titles I think they got scared and their focus changed to try and get as much money before the possibility of Brink going six feet under. The thing is Brink has a niche community that most likely isn't going anywhere, with guaranteed funding in the future, and it would be better to try and build that community with extra content, fixes and support than to make a poor attempt at making some pocket change off those that miss the two week window.

Does it really matter if the DLC is free for two weeks?! You'll have it! That's it! For free! Only those who are not loyal and not pay attention to the SD news will have a higher chance of missing it, and that's their own fault. Does it really matter to you that they have to pay for it after the two weeks?

Customers shouldn't be penalised for not being "loyal" or visiting a game site. Also, not everyone sits on their xbox every day so this could be easily missed. I have a friend who bought Brink on Monday. Sometimes he doesnt go on xbox live for weeks at a time. So, he could miss the two week window. He'd be pissed if he signed into xbox live to play some Brink and then found out the free maps the store staff were promoting weren't free after all.

Point is that you know you are going to download it for free as soon as it's available.... you don't have to pay anything so why are you arguing so hard about a hypothetical situation that doesn't apply to you? As long as their is a small but dedicated playerbase (I don't need COD numbers, just a few friends with the game to have a good time) that support SD and visa versa, I will be satisfied and willing to pay for future DLC. All evidence points to SD supporting Brink so all of this negative mudslinging and defeatist rhetoric about being exploited and abandoned is purely sensational and untrue.

Did you not read what I wrote or is your statement directed at everyone? I was commenting on the business decision to charge for a dlc that was originally announced as free without limitations attached not hypothetical situations.

Why do I care? I care because they changed their word and may have doomed the game further with their greed. If you're fine just playing with some friends that's great but most of the small community that is left would like to play in full games without having to wait long periods due to the poor matchmaking and dwindling community. Also defeatist rhetoric is the argument or persuasion to accept defeat. I'm expressing my disappointment in their poor business choice to try and recoup some of their loses in what appears to be a foolhardy last ditch attempt before the AAA shooters come out. If I had accepted defeat I would have returned this game a long time ago like so many others already have.

Are you people that [censored]? Splash damage is giving the people that had to suffer through the beginning of the launch. So if someone that buys the game in a month, they didn't go through all of the problems that this game had. they are rewarding their customers that already bought the game.

Still seems a little cheeky to only make it free for 2 weeks, especially considering the amount of flaws we're putting up with. I'm just really glad the company decided to replace my PS3 rather than send it with the monthly shipment over to Australia to be repaired, if they had I'm not totally sure I'd have a console back in time to download it. There's even another topic of a poor guy who's not sure he'll get it since he's moving house... I'd feel pretty damn cheated if I missed the DLC for free, as great as the game is. A month seems more reasonable.

I didn't think much of the two week deadline. I figured that everyone could download it (even if you didn't have the game but were possibly planning on buying it) and just play it at your leisure. However I'm starting to have problems with my Xbox, I think it's the laser, so if it needs repairing I could miss the DLC which would really annoy me.

1. DOWNLOAD the DLC during the 2 weeks, and your going to have it forever (unless you think they can hack your system and delete the dlc) DUUH

2. Who cares if you can unlock all the guns and attachments in 45 minutes? how is that a screw up?

3. THEY DIDNT LIE ABOUT A FREE DLC, IT IS FREE! And even if you just so happened to be on a vacation for 2 weeks, well if you can afford a vacation for 2 weeks you can afford a dlc

4. Leave the community! your arrogant, nobody wants immature punks like you around anyway, you probably should just go play oblivion all by yourself and take more than 45 minutes to get everything, oh but right, you don't like Bethesda Software, hmmmmmmmmmmmm maybe fallout? Oh [censored] right i forgot you don't like good quality games.

"Buy" it off Xbox.com if you have to send it in... then you can just choose redoenload instead of having to pay for it

While he may be ranting some of his points are valid and there's no need to stoop so low in your own rant. You'd think people would not be so quick to tell others to leave with the still dwindling community.

And good tip with purchasing the dlc online for xbox. A less ideal alternative if you don't have internet at all like the guy moving is to just recover your gamertag on a trusted friend's xbox and have them download it for you and recover your gamertag back later and redownload on your console.

You have no idea how much $ it takes to run a game studio.

Studio's don't get paid for working on free DLC.

If you want continued support, improvement, and expansion for this game, you are going to have to pay for it.

Here's the solution, Please continue, my good sir. and GTFO, or pay for content so we can continue to enjoy the game.

Wow. People need to relax. The bottom line is they first announced the DLC in May. At that time they stated it would be free but with no mention of a "window". Then you throw in the DLC delay & I could see why a small few would get pissed. Splash Damage clearly has tripped over their laces a few times during this process.

Now all of this "get out we don't need you b.s." is some weak [censored].
