Whats with the all the Lady Gaga hate?

Post » Tue May 17, 2011 9:57 am

She knows exactly how the pop industry works, and has exploited it brilliantly. She was a composer and producer before the Lady Gaga persona was invented. It's a far cry from the typical manufactured stars from the Disney factory.

Well it is possible that she will be able to come up with new ways to keep shocking and attracting attention to herself for a long time (until she is too old to keep doing it, although with advancements in medicine and plastic surgery that might be practically until she dies),

All of her current fans (read income providers) will get older, and say to themselves, "What was I thinking?", then when her successor comes they will shake their heads and say "Outlandish, but I'm not a hater"......Then Lady GaGa will attempt to woo the next wave of potential income providers....and will end up just like Cher & Madonna.

Very rich, well known, compared to the next music sensation - and the ones after that, and another celebrity to keep the paparazzi and gossip mags in business, so good luck to her. :)

Some of her music is OK, some is not, fortunately I can make my own mind up, not be subject to peer pressure and not say one thing whilst secretly listening to her stuff and fantisizing over her pictures.

That's the nature of the business and she knows it. Or one would hope that her managers and handlers are at least educating her to that end. She needs to begin investing now.
I have never listened to anything other than media snippets of her music and the only thing I find remotely sixy about her are her legs....and only when they move. :whistling:

Where exactly is "here" and don't you have sound insulation over there? You might also be interested in http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Noise-cancelling_headphones.

I live in the UK, its not so much a problem anymore as I am no longer going to school, but one or two people do walk around with volume maxed on an ipod or phone instead of using headphones for some reason.

Also never seen or heared of headphones like that before.

I have a couple of her songs on my playlist - Rough and Bad Romance, although I prefer the Caro Emerald cover version of Bad Romance better. Plus, being a "leg man", I will not disagree with you. ;)

Most people hate her for the same reason they hate Justin Bieber. That high profile, they're popular so lets jump on the dislike bandwagon with the people who have actual reasons. Thing is, we just hear about the hate more, they each have a ton of fans and that's how they make their money and really..when you make millions who cares who hates you.

I find that her songs can make for great rock remixes. A couple of examples:

I hate this mentality."oh they hate X, X is popular so they hate it" X being popular is nothing to do with it. X just happens to be popular.

Some of you say critics critique and that is there job. Problem is, where ever you look, alot of people copy others. Yes the critiques can say that Yes this group sounds like Pearl Jam, or this person sounds like Elvis Presiliey, but I haven't herd anyone go off and and Blantently say that they are ripping off on someone. The way they were going on, was like she did some hideous crime. OMG so she sounded like Madonna? Big deal. There was no reason for them to NERD RAGE about it. I thought these were suppose to be proffessional people.

Oh well. I guess that saying is true, Haters are going to hate. I find it funny how I ask about what you think about how she was being treated about being compared to Madonna but people still need to say that they don't like her, or she is no good. Did I ask if she was any good? This wasn't the point of the topic. There was no need for it to be mentioned here. All I asked was about the critisim of her sounding like Madonna and how she was being treated.

Just goes to show you people have to hate no matter what. I expected more from the BSF forum. Please people, please keep this to the topic at hand. I know how alot of people like her, alot of people don't like her. I don't want this to turn into a She is no good/her music svcks/ what ever negative or postitive about her, other wise the mods should just lock up this topic if people can't behave themselves.

Again what do you think of the proffesional reviewers going off on Lady Gaga because she sounded like Madonna? Was it justified or not? Please don't answer because you don't like her or if you do like her. Think about and answer honestly.

Again for me, I don't really care for her. Yes I think she is talented. You can't deny that. Problem is she doesn't display this talent lots of times, is outrages. Being outrages gets her the attention. But again it doesn't matter if you like her or not, did she deserve the harsh critism just because she sounded like Madonna? I say no because so many artists who are popular try to act or sound like someone else. But it's ok, if all these "top" names do it, but heaven forbid if Madonna has done it.

I just find it shamefull that these people have nothing else better to do that bash someone while alot of other people do it, and get praised for it.

I hate this mentality."oh they hate X, X is popular so they hate it" X being popular is nothing to do with it. X just happens to be popular.

Indeed. There are so many things that are extremely popular, more than both Lady Gaga and Justin Bieber, and they are not hated not even close as widely and as much as Lady Gaga and Justin Bieber. Their popularity only helps make people who don't think they deserve the popularity notice them. Media shoving them down those people's throats makes those people annoyed and that results in hatred towards the celebrity in question. But the main seed and origin of the hatred is that these people think that the celebrities are not good enough to deserve such popularity and such treatment by the media that they get. The reason for the hatred is not the popularity per se, but the fact that they are popular and that people generally don't think they deserve to be so popular because they think their music is just not that good.

To prove my point, take for example The Beatles, who in their prime were much more popular than Lady Gaga and Justin Bieber combined could ever hope to be (and today they're more popular than either of them could possibly be over forty years after their careers are over). As a result they were at the time featured in the media much more frequently than Lady Gaga and Justin Bieber are today and were played on radio more or as frequently as either of the two of them are today. And yet, even though there were surely people who didn't like The Beatles back then (and also probably even people who hated and/or utterly despised them), there was never such a general and broad "annoyedness" by and hatred towards The Beatles as there is towards Lady Gaga and Justin Bieber today (minus http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/More_popular_than_Jesus but that passed quickly). You could say that it's because there was no Internet back then, but we all know that that can't be the reason. Look at any band or singer who is very popular today - none of them have garnered even remotely close amount of hatred towards themselves as Lady Gaga and Justin Bieber have. To say that popularity by itself is the cause of it and that people decide to hate them just because they're popular and they think it's cool to hate someone who is popular is a plain and simple nonsense.

I personally believe Madonna can be attributed to the desensitizing of sixuality in media thanks to her incline in racy music videos. Gaga is just continuing the legacy.

I have no problem with Gaga. I do have a problem with someone who needs alcohol and drugs to write a new song, though.

Aside from the drug using part, she seems to have a good sense of who she is on the inside, despite what she looks like on the outside.

I watch the grammys for the outfits. Lady Gaga did not disappoint.
We have meat dress, we have the egg, I'm thinking breakfast. What will she wear next? Waffles? Toast? Oatmeal?

Yeah, I dont see how them being popular has anything to do with anything. Becuase most people wil llike some band that is popular. There are people who hate anything popular, but accusing anyone who hates gaga/bieber of this is just insane.
Also Linkin park is pretty popular, alone "Numb" has 24,244,613 views on one video. They dont get much hate, just that thier new stuff svcks. "They hate it because its popular" just seems like a cop out answer, a way to "win" an arguemnt easily. Dont know why people cant just accept people dont like the music. I listen to Slipknot, lots of people dont like them, thats fine, the music dosent appeal to them, I can see why they may not like it. I will just accept thier oppinion instead of plling some crap like "oh they just hate popular things and are anti conformist, to stand out". The last one is insulting imo, mainly because its pretty much saying your an attention [censored].

Also the "bigger than Jesus" thing was pretty funny until it got the guy killed. People take things to seriously, hell it wasnt even insulitng, or said in a bad way, just seemed like a joke about popularity.

She's laughing all the way to the bank. Fair play to her.

Well, its called copyright infringement and artists who have produced music that is a direct rip of another's have been sued for it (if they don't get permission and pay a royalty). She might not be laughing so hard if whomever owns the rights to "Vogue" and "Respect Yourself" takes her to court.

Yeah, I get sick of going on music videos on youtube and seeing "hurr 67 dislikes are beiber fans" or some [censored], if you want thumbs up in youtube just talk about bieber, or make a comment on the number of people disliking the vid, or comment on the replay button.

Artists rip eachother off all the time, iirc kid rock stole something from metalica, who stole something from the offspring.

I hate this mentality."oh they hate X, X is popular so they hate it" X being popular is nothing to do with it. X just happens to be popular.

It's not like this concept is just being made up. You're always going to have a mix of people who dislike something because they have legitimate problems with it, and people who dislike it because they think it's cool to do so. Extreme popularity is not a "legitimate" reason and isn't going to increase the former beyond the simple matter of increased exposure = more people forming an opinion, but that would presumably have an equal effect with positive reactions and create no major change. However, popularity is going to have a massive impact on the people who hate it for their own image. These threads about Lady Gaga and Justin Bieber and whoever invariably descend into death-threat-level raging, and I find it unlikely that anyone can hate their music that much. You know who else is a bad singer? The vast majority of people on Earth, most of whom are not singers. It's popularity that fans the flames.

As an aside, I notice that a lot of people giving reasons cite things like the fake persona, things she's said, various problems other than the music, and I have no idea what they're talking about. How do people even know this stuff without intentionally looking into/reading about Lady Gaga in the first place? Basically my only contact with her is if I choose to seek out her music, and threads like this. Considering how easy the "not being exposed to her" part is, the threads always seem like rather unjustified whining.
