So when's the next update?

Post » Mon Nov 19, 2012 5:29 pm

The Creation Kit is still at 1.6.89, and yet Skyrim (with Dawnguard), has been at 1.7+ for almost 2 months. And if rumors serve correct, then Hearthfire will be releasing for PC soon. So we'll be at 2 DLC later, and still no update. I know most mods aren't necessarily having a problem regarding this, but there are some things (such as version control), that aren't working properly. I haven't seen anything regarding an update or anything, so I'm just wondering if we could get some news on this? Thanks.

The funny thing is that a 1.6.91 update does exist, as it was accidentally pushed out at one point, causing problems seeing as the game version was 1.6.89. I have no doubt we'll see a new patch, but I was slightly surprised to not see one alongside the 1.7 update.

I was surprised as well. But apparantly .89 works just fine with 1.7, and there was no need for an update. Who knows, maybe .91 was a test version with extra stuff that they were just messing with?

I think we'll keep getting silence until Hearthfire comes out in the next few weeks. Hopefully at that time we'll get 1.8 along with a CK update. (And a dialogue bug fix. *Crossed fingers*)

Yeah, 1.6.89 works fine with 1.7 as is, but once you add a certain DLC, things get a bit wonky. One outstanding issue is the inability to properly check-in certain things with Version Control because of the whole CK version mixup before the current version, and Dawnguard's esm essentially renders version control inert. The current version dosen't really affect small mods noticebly much, but for much larger mods such as Ethas, that's a different story.
