The title says it all. Are they going to be opened before the release date?

We may get an addition section or two a few weeks before release - often the Spoiler section will go up early. However most won't show up until it begins to ship.

What's the point of the Spoilers forum before the game ships?

There are already spoilers out there that have come from hands-on reviews and what not - some people don't want to hear about what happens in certain quests or the contents of specific dungeons. As we get closer to release the number of such details increases and we'll consider a Spoiler forum so these things details are kept out of Skyrim General.

good deal do you have any idea when the mod forum will be up cus it makes sense that that would be up be for release so we can star collaborating with one another on mods

That's good news, no need to clutter the General section with spoilers. Are you going to open the Creation Kit section as well? [actually I don't even know when it will be released]

edit: ninja'd! :ninja:

There has been no discussion of opening additional forums for this section. We may get an addition section or two a few weeks before release - nothing has been planned, but this is generally what happens.

I don't imagine modding forums will be opened until the Creation Kit is released.

It'll probably be up on release, maybe a day or two before.

Imagine how much havoc there would be on the release day without a spoiler subsection, good thing their releasing it early.

I know you aren't completely serious but the thought of a mod request forum before release depresses me greatly.

It makes completely sense. Modders will be able to organise their work even before the Kit comes out. Who's going to overhaul the UI? Who's going to make a texture pack? Etc.

[on a side note, judging by what I've seen so far a vanilla Skyrim will not be a game I would want to play anyway]

Guys, we need a modding section NAO, now that the Steam preload has started there's already so much to discuss. Do we have to wait for the CK to be released?
