When will the Glare issue be fixed?

Post » Wed May 16, 2012 12:47 pm

Seriously , I dont even know how long its been since release .. But i still cannot play.. Same problem ever since :

I have tried every single driver that came out... Starting from 11.10 previews 1,2,3 to 11.11 to 11.12 to 11.12a preview

None of the drivers made any difference ... This is my only problem with RAGE and i am not facing any other problems.. And from the amount of drivers released and still not affect a bit .. I am starting to think something is wrong on ID side and not AMD... Any help?

Try to roll back the game *.exe to an unpatched version (I can't give you a link as that would be against the rules.. or something. Try to find one on google) and add this command for the game in Steam:

+cvarAdd r_skipFlares 1

The issue seems to be related to the game not disabling the lens flares even when they shouldn't be visible.

That's the only right way to do it...
In your base folder for Rage, create "rageconfig.cfg" and in it paste that--> +cvarAdd r_skipFlares 1
If the text file doesn't work, try copying the default.cfg then replacing its text with that and then renaming to "rageconfig.cfg"

Hopefully xaxxiron777's cvar works

Thanks for the advice mate , Still did not work .. I tried both ways BTW , So i think the cvar does not work..
However , Maybe this is useful info but i know r_skipGlare 1 and/or r_skipEmissiveGlare 1 helps make the glares a bit less , However they are still there and still blinding..

Seriously , When will id start making patches addressing the games [censored] problems .. its like 3 months since release and nothing still..

Well , Any of the community here have any other idea/advice?

Never be fixed--Carmack has his multiple Porches and Lamborghinis with mansions in Malibu, or the Riviera, or were ever peeps with more money than they know what to do with live. He's done with the game.

Hitman47222, you simply run the bad luck of being the only one with the problem... at least as far as I've seen anywhere online. When that's the case, it's unlikely they'll put alot of effort to fix it. In fact, it will probably take more effort to TRY to experience the problem to begin with...

Exactly lol , Even though other people with 5830 are also experiencing this problem , So it seems to be a xx30 Problem , Anywayz i Dont care anymore as i am buying a new PC sometime this month or begining of Feb with an ATI 6850 .. Hopefully that will make the game run fine considering i am currently a low end PC , Anywayz , in case anyone cares .. I will report back here after i upgrade on how the game runs after upgrades.
