Where are the Mage's college merchants?

Post » Wed Jun 06, 2012 9:37 am

I can only seem to find one guy that sells things only when he is in his room. I haven't done that many college mission but I've done my fair share. Do they become sellers later on or am I just not talking to them in the right spot like the guy who will not sell me anything unless we are in his room?

I find it odd there is only one merchant. I know there has to be more.

Oh I forgot about the book seller. My question with him is does he ever sell anything besides books? He doesn't for me.

Thanks for the help and please if the answer pertains to the story leave out spoilers.

Almost everyone in the College will sell you something and train you ...

Faralda will teach you Destruction magic and sell you spells. Phinis Gestor does the same for Conjuration. Tolfdir for Alteration. Colette Marence for Restoration. Drevis Neloren for Illusion.

On top of this they will also sell you general mage apparel such as robes and staves.

They sell books and robes but it's hard finding them. Life Aura shout and Detect Life spells are your friend.

Thanks. Ok so I'm right they do sell. Cool! Now the problem is they are not. I've been to everyone and still nothing. I found a list of every person that is in every place in the entire game and by looking at it I definetly have been to every person that is at the college. Another thing I was I really wanted the bound bow spell and I can't seem to get it there. I've read that the dude I go to sells it after you hit level 50. I've been to him and every other single dealer in Slyrim and still there is no bound bow spell and I'm almost level 60.

The spells they have depends on your skill. Say you are an expert on destruction Faralda will sell you expert destrucition spells. This applies to the other mages.

Okay but what determines if your an expert, master etc. I'm not actually a Mage but I have very high magic from enchantments.

Novice = 0 skill lvl
Apprentice = 25
Adept = 50
Expert = 75
Master = 100

Enchantments wont have effect since there are no enchantments that raise skill level.

So your saying if I have a 50 destruction skill I'll be adept?

indeed it will.

for example if you want to buy an expert level spell then your skill will have to be at least 75 in that school of magic.

try finding the mages willst there in there room or wait until its mid day they should be selling stuff by then, if not it may be a bug. id also try completing the college quest line as it might "wake" up the NPCs
