Where are Torches? it's too dark in some caves

Post » Thu May 10, 2012 8:23 am

Hello folks, I've been searching towns and cities, torches are nowhere to be found, I need a light source that I can use in dark areas. Since I'm pure melee so far I don't want magic thingies. Please help me out

You're just going to have to get lucky. In between riverwood and whiterun you can sometimes catch legion or other patrols that if you ambush some of the guards have then, sometimes. They're not as important as in oblivion. I think the devs realized if we need to carry a torch we can't use the cool two handed system they came up with.

Well, I urgently need a lightsource to see what color are horses of windmill. Because you know, that place is dark nonstop, thanks to weather.

Yeah I would like to find some torches. Not even for just caves but out riding your house around Skyrim it can be really dark. I like the darkness of game though.

I wish I could give you one of my 14 torches. I have been finding them in dungeons. But uh, I also pop a light spell sometimes.

They need like a 30 minute light spell for advanced alteration users. I hope they have one.

There is a mine on the road from Helgen to Riverwood, you can get between 15-20 torches there. just take em off the walls. as you explore.

Not sure if after some time they re-spawn or not, I'd imagine they do.

I found all of mine when I tried to escape from jail in Whiterun. You can pick up torches hanging from the walls. There are quite a few down there in Dragonsreach Dungeon.

My Nord barbarian nicked one off of a bandit he killed in Bleak Flats Barrow. But it didn't last as long as an Oblivion torch. But yea, I've noticed torches are harder to find. There aren't multiple torches in every 5th barrel like there were in Oblivion.

I haven't been able to figure out if we can use a lantern instead, as a light source. I've picked a couple up, but can't seem to figure how to get them to work, if they're actually meant as a mobile light source.

Sadly the burnt out lanterns are just decorative. You can't light them. Hopefully some creative modder will fix that.

That's why kids shouldn't be playing games.

Torches can be purchased from any general store merchants.
Torches HANG on every freaking bloody wall inside keeps and dungeons. Almost ALL of them have torches. Literally every 5 meters there is a torch stuck on a wall.

And to think I was complaining to my friend the other day how annoyingly bright are all the dungeons, so torches aren't needed at all, which I really hate.

My god.

F*cking go inside the jail and that's it. It's a free game. Holy crap.

I went to any general store merchants idiot, THEY DONT HAVE THEM. Also I'm not doing dungeons atm, I'm gathering money for horse and house. I don't only want torch because I can't see things, it feels more like RPG.

I got a lot of torches from one bandit-invested mine near Riverwood. There are torches along the walls in little holders, when you walk up to them you can take the torch out, and put it back in.

I recommend adjusting your video settings also.

Morrowind, Oblivion, even Fallout I always had to fine tune the in game settings slightly for the best results.
