Xander root is most common around Goodsprings. There are a fair number of them between the town and Primm, particularly.

Yeah, looks like a giant white turnip with bushy greens. Turns brown and stunted when it's past its prime.

Pretty funny, once you get to recognize a plant and start collecting it you start to see it everywhere, even at great distances and out of the corner of your eye as you jog by. Just like in RL, I guess.

If you're up for an adventure, there's quite a few Xander Roots and Broc Flowers in the http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Deathclaw_promontory, but that's probably not the nicest place to go looking for them.

I've also found lots of Xander Root around the forested areas to the left of the road to Jacobstown. (Jacobstown is in the large crater on the NW of your map)

Jacobstown seems like the safer approach. I encountered a Family of deathclaws yesterday I took down two but got my head knocked off when I was reloading... I don't think the Deathclaw Promontory would be the best place for me right now lol
