Where can you safely store items?

Post » Wed Jun 06, 2012 8:45 am

hey guys can you only safely store items in your own house that you purchase? Like Breezehome?

Or can you store it in places like the college of winterhold chests, or the dark brotherhood, or even someones house.

I don't want to lose my treasure.

Well, it is YOUR house, so it is definitely. I don't think Belethor will go poking around there. And to answer the second part, no I am not sure. For the early part of the game I stored my stuff in the Companion's Guild new members quarters until I got Breezehome. I would wait till other people reply before trying to store it in public places.

Any home you purchase is completely safe to store things in. I've never tried placing anything into public containers but that's because generally they respawn don't they?

well I am an Arch Mage in the college now so can I use all those chests?

If I store them in public containers do they disappear or something after x amount of time?

I'd assume you could use the chests in the arch mage's quarters, should count as yours.

I'm not sure, but I think I've tried that, and saw items I stored there, disappear after a few game-loads.

If you want a free and safe location to store your stuff, try the Alchemist's Shack....The end table next to the bed doesn't respawn:

In a purchased home, is it only the containers that are safe? or will stuff that you put on tables, display cases, etc. be safe too?

Buy a house. They're cheap. I recommend either the Whiterun or Riften houses. Your apprentice quarters in the Mages Guild should be safe, as well.

I was going to ask this. I read somewhere it's only the containers and if you put anything on the floor etc, they can disapear. I read that only the outside cells, if stuff placed on the ground stay on the ground but if placed on the ground in inner cells they disapear. Since an onwed house is an inner cell, I am not sure.

i have so far tested some containers in riverwood (inside hod/gerdur's house and outside alvor's house) and nothing has disappeared, yet. i usually stick with containers that are originally empty.

They are safe. I have a statue of Dibella near my bed in every home. No blue pills in Skyrim.

In Oblivion all containers in players' homes were safe for storing items, and I doubt it would be different in Skyrim.

I personally use Breezehome for all my gear. It's a fairly central location on the world map, plus it has a smelter, a forge, a tanning rack and a grinding stone around the corner, enchanting in Dragonsreach as well as potion-making if you didn't buy the upgrade for your home. All in all, it's a nice house in a good spot with easy access to anything you might need.

I've been playing for a month now with equipment spread all over the place. The floor in my house is covered in assorted weapons.
The front of my house would put a hillbilly to shame, crap spread all over the place.... all in the name of science.
