Where do I code specific situational npc behavior?

Hi all,

Just started my first mod last night! I'm not really sure how to phrase my question so I did my best to search for existing topics on here as well as youtube.


What I want to do:

I want an npc I created to move to a spot and do a specific animation when the requirements are met. If there is a dead npc on the ground and 'x is false' I want the npc to move to the body and perform a certain idle animation. Then make 'x is true'.

I just don't know where to do this. Am I messing with packages? Do I need to write a script and attach it to a certain actor? I'm not a programmer, but I think I can fudge my way through what I want to do. Just having the problem of not knowing where I need to do it.
