Where do our Robobrains brains come from ?

WARNING POSSIBLE SPOILERS

So if a robobrain needs a brain, where is our brain coming from when we make our own custom robobrain?

Don't think about it. Don't. Think. About. It. That being said, if we have to sacrifice a settler to do it I vote for that obnoxious woman Preston brought back to Sanctuary with him.

Well..some people are rp-ing that its certain family members rofl. That's pretty hardcoe. Im just assuming I "borrowed" the ones Im using....from anyone who's stupid enough to attack my bases.

I guess synths can make organic type brains right? so they could be from that, maybe your just making cloned/synth brains. This idea seems less crazy and a better idea once you learn the lore in Automatron about them.

OH I personally love the idea of a possibly homicidal robot companion. But that's just me :)

I knew damn well what i was getting myself into hahaha

if you rp a robot expert then you can just assume you fixed the problem, or those synth brains i mentioned might not have the same problems.

Two different models of Robobrains.

The Mechanist was using actual human brains (via feral ghoul farming) for his Robobrains while the original models (the ones we've seen in earlier games) used monkey brains.

I think, it could be safely assumed, that we're using an animal brain instead of a human one when we make our own Robobrains to keep them from causing problems, as the problem with Mechanist's Robobrains was that human brains were just too powerful and gave the robots too much to think about and calculate, while an animal brain would be much much weaker.

I go with the idea of using Deathclaw brains for my own. Ha-ha.

OT here, but...

Biologically speaking, animal brains are not "less evolved" than human brains -- they are simply evolved differently to fulfill the biologic niche of the animal within the food chain. For instance, a bear's brain may not have the capacity to reason out calculus, but bears are apex predators, and their function is not to engage in philosophical discourse, but to keep the populations of deer, elk, salmon, etc. in check. To do such a thing, their olfactory senses are heightened -- by a factor of 100 times better than human beings. They can smell us coming miles before we can sense them in other ways (naturally), and their brain is evolved to distinguish whether our scent indicates health or disease, what food we've consumed recently, and whether we're pregnant or sterile. From that perspective, a bear's brain is far "evolved" over that of a human being's brain. ...And then there is the issue of viruses not physically having brains, but being evolutionarily the greatest predators on the planet (don't believe me, go take a stroll down Ebola lane in Africa and see who comes out on top of that fight, yeah?).

In summation, borrowing from the great Obi-Wan Kenobi, "...you're going to find that many of the truths we cling to depend greatly on our own point of view." From the perspective of the bear AND Ebola, your ability to calculate Pi to the 26th digit is irrelevant. You're still just lunch.

I didn't miss it thats exactly what I'm saying though if these brains were messed up and causing the whole problem that you in the quest are trying to solve, why would you use these brains to make your robobrain??

Bad head canons aside, the only logical answer would be that we are getting them from the massive brain storage area in the Mechanist's Lair.

The Mechanist used conserved brains that are in the facility. They are from pre-war prisoners, real criminals. So, no problem. Check all the terminals, they provide lots of explanations and interesting stuff.

There are lots of conserved brains, a real huge quantity. Maybe when you mod, you "take" one of those. Or maybe it is from Raiders, Gunners, Rust Devils, Pillars of the Community or Children of Atom (didn't recommend these two last, their brain is probably severely damaged). Keeping in mind who they are, there are no problem harvest a couple of jelly. But is very hard to extract and adapt a brain (check the terminals for details), so I think they come from the facility.

Remember, never use a good-guy brain. Good people don't deserve that.

Because one homicidal Robobrain that you create yourself using one of those brains is better than an entire army created by someone who has no idea that they are unstable enough to interpret "Help the people of the Commonwealth" as "Kill all the people in the Commonwealth".

Best off-topic (but sort of not) comment I have seen this week. And unless it was all copy / paste, you are one heck of a typist too.

Even a word - "evolutionarily" I would have sworn was not a word - but is, and used correctly.

RobCo was actually harvesting the brains of human prison inmates before the war started pre 2077 according to all the terminals in the The Mechanist's lair. All the Ferals found in the prison cells were humans waiting to be tested and operated on and they turned into ghouls sometime within the 200 year span. Some terimanols give backgrounds of each specific inmate detailing what they were imprisoned for and their brain capacity, functionality and levels of intelligence.
