Where is the PDF of the manual?

Where is the PDF of the manual? I've looked everywhere. And isn't there also supposed to be a digital copy of the paper map, for those of us who bought digital versions?

It doesn't look like there is one.
Normally when a digital manual is supplied you can find it in the context menu (rightmouseclick on game) in Steam (under 'view manual'), but Skyrim doesn't appear to have it.

If you do a google search, it has a thread that apparently was on the steam forums about how to obtain the manual. Guess we didn't want that anyway.

IIRC there's a link to them (if it has one) in one of the Steam launcher windows that shows the game title, news for that title, etc. Can't remember the name of the window menu tho & can't check at the moment.

Well there's no link to the manual and the "guide" just goes to main store page. I searched for it on Steam and Google and no joy. Come on gamesas/Steam you guys should be on top of this stuff from the get-go. Anyone who finds the damn think, please link it ASAP, thanks.

PC up & running again, checked:

Library, r-click on the game title, "View Player Manual"

Edit: Argh, I'm sorry...I clicked on the wrong game...Skyrim doesn't seem to have that link/manual, like suspected. But that's where the link would be.

So we not only miss out on the smell of a fresh-cracked RPG manual from the box, but we also miss out on the... er... manual :) Oh well, that's what the world-wide-intraweb network is for.

It's pathetic that PC users have to scour the net trying to find their manual for a game of this size.
It should be delivered in the download package.
Pfff fail Bethesda

The map included in the retail box is PATHETIC. Basically two pages for each language. (English, Swedish, Danish, Norwegian, and Finnish) The left side tells me what keys to use, and the right one show how the UI looks. I would have expected a manual to list the skills, and some of the perks as well as describing things like setting up hotkeys and so on. But this svcks! I have no doubt I will enjoy the game but atlreast a manual on par with Oblivion would have need nice.

Now I fiound a MANUAL ADDENDUM in my steam folder.

*****************************************************************

2. Manual Addendum

*****************************************************************
Page. 20

General:
-Tab exits most menus or moves focus back one level
-In most cases E also works as ENTER
-0 works as ENTER on the Keypad

Character Menus:
-The mouse can be used to exit Item/Magic/Skills menus by clicking on the edge of the screen nearest to the Character Menu.

Inventory:
-Mousewheel can be used to scroll through inventory lists in items/magic menu.
-Mousewheel can be used while highlighting an item to zoom in and inspect it.

Containers:
-Items can be used/equipped directly from containers.
-Shift+Click will use/read/equip depending on the item.
-If the item is a weapon and Shift+RMB is used the item will be equipped in the left hand.

Books:
-Right mouse button can be used to advance to next page. Left mouse button to turn back a page.

I downloaded the manual before release, but I can't remember from where...

Oh! Now I remember! Off the Direct2Drive (where I bought it) Documents tab.

Theres nothing in the manual anyway.

There are also no ingame descriptions telling you anything about how anything works or what it means.

I know that Todd Howard has recently developed an irrational phobia for things that are too 'spreadsheety', but I mean comeon??? You cant even tell me what all the racial bonuses do when make a new character?

As enjoyable as the game is, the lack of written information about the game's content is really taking 'streamlining' much too far.

To find out what all the perks do, I have to cycle through a tricky to navigate, bloated start system, and looking through them all would take 100x longer than reading a clear and concise spreadsheet / database.

I wonder if this missing manual situation is merely a Bethesda oversight. Perhaps they'd be terribly embarrassed if they knew there was no manual... :glare:

Kinda missing a manual aswell. Not so much for controls, but rather the skills and how they relate/work for character building.

For those who are looking for a basic "manual" of sorts, ingame is a help section which goes over the basics of controls and some of the options you encounter while playing through the game. You can find it by pressing Escape and it should be there (System tab).

I'm glad, I guess, that Bethesda's saving all this money by only supplying a pamphlet with the game, but this is an RPG, not an FPS and should have a much more complete manual. It's sad that the Prima guide is pretty much turning into a necessity or that walkthroughs and wikis are the only way this stuff is organized any more.
