Apparently you share a bed with the steward.
The steward house remains locked at night though, ironically.

The chest in the stewards house doesn't seem to belong to you either, so I wouldn't take a chance using it for safe storage.

So let me get this straight, if I come to late, the doors locked, if the person I live with is in the bed, I'm not allowed to use it, every storage unit within the household is off limits to me.

Following the “Old Friends” quest, you do not have access to a bed and chest promised by Neloth.

Neloth is eccentric and possibly insane so you should take whatever he promises with a grain of salt.

You can still sleep in the bed, even if Dravas is in it. LOL And he's always in it, seems like! Lazy lump.....

Didn't you loot Verona's (dead steward) body? That's how I got the key, I don't get locked out. Of course, I would not share a bed with the steward anyway, so I don't use the room.
