In OB it was Skingrad with Rosethorn Hall. Which city in Skyrim has the largest, most expensive & luxurious house?

Yep, it's Solitude. 25,000G + appx 10,000G for the furnishings. I believe you have to do a quest for the Jarl first.

Man, I thought it might've been a Fallout 3 situation so I bought the one in Whiterun.

Well, I might just keep it. I like having a centrally located home.

You can buy more than one home, so there's nothing stopping you from buying the one in Solitude.

Yeah, you press F to do it before you're about to craft.

Ah, OK. Well at least you have somewhere to store things until you're rich enough to purchase your new home. :)

I usually sell everything I don't use. :P

I keep some things (like items that have sentimental value to my character, like the Book of the Dragonborn) though.
