I've been reading some comics lately. Been getting into the whole superhero thing. I want some opinions as to what else I should be reading. So far, I've only touched the DC New 52:

Batman

Deathstroke

Green Arrow

The Flash

I am thinking about reading some Marvel comics. Are they better than DC, do you think? What are the best Marvel series currently? Is there a Marvel equivalent of the New 52, so I don't have hundreds of issues of lore to catch up on?

Not on the list, but I really enjoyed Ultimate Spiderman.

I've never read DC or Marvel myself, but I recommend Transmetropolitan for you to read. AKIRA is cool too.

That is a DC comic? Not one of their superheroes, but it is published by them nonetheless.

I haven't read the Spiderman comics, so can't judge too much. However, the movies and very hero himself never appealed too much to me.

The Sandman comic-series is pretty nice.

Dead pool is hilarious..as for other marvel, I don't like x-men..but everything else is neat

If you like Batman, check out Azrael. He appeared first in batman comics , and is an interesting character.

It is easy to start with and follow.

I'd say the current top two Marvel ongoings right now is Hawkeye and Thor.

Both have Volume 1 up for trade with Hawkeye's Volume 2 coming next week (I think)

I'd also recommend Saga as well although it not being a superhero comic from the Big Two. Volume 1 is available for trade and the 2nd is coming out the same time as Hawkeye's.

If you like Spider-man I'd recommend getting the current run of Superior which is a fantastic story (I admit the premise is just stupid but Slott makes it work) and Spider-man 2099 is being re-released in trades too with the first volume out already.
