my favourite character is boone, mainly because im playing as an ncrish character + hes a beast with just his basic weapon, not tred giving in other, but if you give him unarmed or melee weapons he destroys people, not as good as veronica but hes still a beast, im also using rex but i might change to ed-e because rex keeps dieing because i like to blast the enemys with my incinerator and my grenade launcher whilst boone snipes them from a distance so rex just gets in the way alot although i do like having a dog though he doesn't have the same apeal as dogmeat

veronica is a beats with her fists though she can single handedly take down sentry bots on her own, and for Cass, well cass, i got cass killed by the van graffs as i never intended to use her, me and boone have a whole broke back mountain thing going on.. no homo, never used lily couldn't be bthered with a melee character and a supermutant and i never release raul

Cass is my one women wrecking machine. I gave her Mark II Reinforced Combat Armor and a Riot Shotgun with Magnum ammo and she simply erases things. Last night I decided to climb Black Mountain. Without getting into specifics of any quest I'll say I thought there was a back way around rather the road and got into a place where she couldn't directly follow me so to catch up she takes off and runs the entire last half of the road by herself. I just sat there and was hilariously treated to five or six slow-mo death scenes as she massacred every (tough mind you) enemy on the way up.

The only thing she hasn't been able to handle, an was more a hindrance against, was the Legendary Deathclaw. I made her wait in the outer chamber for that because she kept running in front of my shot.

On top of that I love her attitude and her quips about every new place we go to.

I'd have to go with the Boone/ED-E combo for all the reasons stated above. But you do need to give Boone a break for a while to pick up Veronica while you do the brotherhood quests.
Rex is only useful while you're doing Jacobstown stuff and to score fame points with the Kings.

I love Cass with her riot shotgun. I love it when an npc's conversation with me ends in them attacking me and all I hear is "BOOM BOOM" and the npc hits the ground before he can pull out his weapon. Every time that happens I just crack up how she looks at you like, "What!? He was trying to pull a piece on you!" She is a monster when she gets her Hand of Vengance perk. (maybe named something else, going off of memory...)

Veronica with a fix that levels her and power armor wrecks everything. It's awesome.

I liked Cassidy most. Cool backstory, and his dad was a recruitable NPC in Fallout 2, pretty neat.
She's pretty deadly with a fully upgraded hunting shotgun
I liked everyone of the NPC's you can recruit, apart from Lily.

She cracked me up last night. I had too many grenades on me so I threw them all on her and kept 3 each for myself without really thinking about. So we're walking around trying to find the Legendary Deathclaw cave and I pick up a blip over a promontory that I can't see. I'm thinking, maybe there's DCs outside the cave so I told her to wait while I circled around to check out the lay of the land. Turns out it's measly Bark Scorpion. Something I've been one-shotting since level 2. So I came out of stealth and it sees me. I was lining up a shot and suddenly BOOM, BOOM, BOOM and the world explodes into a green haze! She tossed three friggin' plasma grenades at the thing before I could get a shot off LOL A little overkill

Boone is a bad mo fo!! I got him first and he's only humanoid companion I have had. The ONLY thing I don't like about him is sometimes I want the kill, Boone. You have to share in the killing!! I had Rex for a while but he is loud and I am a stealthy character. I love Boone so much I haven't even tried any of the other companions because I don't want to loose him. He's cocky and kind of a moody a$$hole but he if you know him, he really does have a good reason.

Amen, Boone rocks it almost every time as long as you let him keep his sniper rifle.

I voted boone since hes always killin things and has a great perk. ED-E is a close 2nd, so putting them together = one awesome sniper squad

Boone is a snore-fest and just plain out svcks in battle. (I have no idea why people call him OP when he misses 70% of his shots. >_<)

your boone must be glitched then... cause i personally think hes too accurate. Hes always killing things for me, even before i see them. and i also gave him my gobi sniper rifle once and he slaughted some deathclaws with it.

I'm waiting for a mod that returns all of an companion's equipment (stock or given to them) to a non-degrading state (like in FO3).

Boone was a terrific companion out in the open when I was exploring. Once we got in tighter quarters (like vaults and such) things got stickier and he died quite a bit (have an essential mod for my companions so he was really just knocked out). Got Arcade after that and in those situations he does better with his super duper rapid fire Plasma pistol. He hasn't died yet. I guess whats the best companion depends on the area you tend to be in the most at the time.

To me, Lily , is the best companion in the game because of that super mutant strength, endurance, and aggression (just like Fawkes in FO3). They are best for tanking the tough enemies while I can focus on doing the damage.
