Which dog should I choose?

Post » Fri Nov 16, 2012 2:19 pm

I cant decide what dog to choose for my house. On one side, I have meeko who's master recently died, and is still sitting by his side. I have the opportunity to give him a new home with a loving family and kids to play with. On the other side I have Huskies from Dawnguard with armor! They're awesome. My rp side and conscience (lol I know its just a game) says take meeko, he needs your help and the kids can relate  , but my other side says, "hey guy! Its a game, pick the cooler one!"

Help me decide!

Which one barks less? That's the one I'd take.

The yapping is about the same. My dog barks a lot in real life, so I dont mind it personally.

Meeko isn't the only dog in the base game (Dunno why people call it vanilla. Someone explain to me.)
If you don't have DG and don't want to buy your dog then Meeko is the way to go. Unless you come across a stray in a random encounter.

Meeko is the only dog that appeals to me in vanilla skyrim. They call it "vanilla" because its supposed to be the default regular flavor.

If you're keeping the doggy with you, you may as well go husky. If you're going to leave the doggy at home as a pet for your kids, go Meeko.

Meeko's old. He's been with that guy who died for quite some time, and depending on how long you've been playing, quite some time after that. I don't think he'll be around to protect your kids. The huskies, on the other hand, seem to be young and healthy. The dog that deserves to be adopted is probably stray dog. Hard as hell to find. Harder to keep him alive. Dismiss him, and he goes back to wherever you found him, likely to get killed since you found him at an encounter spot and another enemy will just spawn.

If you live near that bandit lair you might want the tough dogs to watch the homestead.

I'd go for the husky, but my uncle had one when I was a kid and I did have the chance to ride a few husky-pulled sleds in my life so I'm biased.

EDIT: Plus seriously, two kids equipped with wooden swords and accompanied by an armoured husky could take the Thalmor out by themselves.

I guess having both is impossible? Go with whichever is most appropriate to the situation. If your home is in a dangerous area, go for the Huskies. If not then go for the Meeko. That said I would go for the Huskies if I had my home in the Pale or a snowy region, it would suit the location more. But hey its your game. If you prefer Meeko, go for Meeko.

Isn't it true that if you have multiple houses build you can have multiple children living in multiple houses? Three houses means six children. If that's true I would assume the same would happen to dogs.
If not: go with Meeko is what I should do.
Those nice looking huskies already have a home. Saying that: they got a whole fort. Why downgrading their environment from a fort to a villa if you could upgrade Meeko's environment from a hut to a villa?

you only get two kids, one dog and one random pet. As for the huskies situation, they just stay in a dirt pen barking all day, but yea, you're right about Meeko having it worse than them.

Meeko - Old Dog, But the kids like him, I would adopt him because he has no owner and it made me cry i couldn't keep him in Vanilla game.

Husky - Young Dog, Kids Like Him, 2nd choice if i were to get him, Probably just for me though.. Good dog to protect house if you live by the Bandit Lair and Giant Camps

Vigilance - Middle-Age dog or young dog idk, 3rd choice if i were to get him, He is a good dog for vanilla, Other than that, he's just a dog, he's just an army dog like the husky, But husky has armor.. so

Wait a minute, so you CAN have a husky? How does that work? Do you just go to the DG and get one that is supposed to be with them or can you buy your own husky from them? How does it work?

It would feel like stealing if you just toke their dog if you ask me...
