Which non-modded heavy armor would fit well for a Valkyrie?

Post » Thu Jun 14, 2012 1:30 am

Since Valkyries are usually female, i do mean the female versions. :)
I was thinking about Ancient Nord Armor myself, but i am not very sure.
Stats do not matter, i can fix that with enchanting.

Keep in mind ancient nord armor on females looks nothing like it does on males. Aela wears ancient nord armor.

Steel Plate would be my choice. Ancient Nord Is too dull, but it is the most revealing heavy Armor in the game.

I would assume something evil and menacing, daedric is the first to come to mind but it's a little flamboyant IMO, next would be ebony armor and then wolf armor. If it was me I would go with the shrouded hood over a helm, it matches all the evil looking armor but that's just me, I don't really like to wear helms let alone armor... clothing for me thanks

Definetely got to be a Nord armor as valkyrie is from Norse mythology.

I'd say ancient Nord as in what Aela wears.

How can you be a valkyrie?

One handed, blocking, restoration, heavy armor etc.
But no wings, i use it more as a title for my character.

The steel plate helmet has sort of little wings, hasn't it? Then maybe you could go with that.(though imo the steel plate is the ugliest armor in the game, when worn by women, it looks much better on men).

Come to think of it, I think the winged helmet of the Valkyries are a 19th century romantic invention. Like horn on Viking helmets. It can't be said enough times: Viking helmets had no horns! They were just plain iron with a sort of "mask" over the eyes sometimes. (During the 19th century they got mixed up with Bronze Age helmets, that had horns, be it of a different shape than the usual cliché Viking Age helmet. They weren't so good at dating archaeological finds in those days. So. Enough archaeology for today :) )

I think Njada Stonearm looks a little like a Valkyrie. She wears light armor, hide I think, and a hide helmet. Actually, I think I would go for light armor - two-handed with a Valkyrie build. Since there are no spears, but I think a Valkyrie should wield something big and impressive, like a battleaxe. These are the female warriors of Odin! They are bad-ass!

Work your way up from: Steel, Steel Plate, Dragon Bone.

Dwarven and Orcish are too race specific. Ebony is black, so it doesn't fit. Daedric is evil.

An ancient nord helmet only and you'll have to find a dress/robe mod that fits that kind of character. ;)

Can't use mods sadly, i am on ps3.
I will get a new computer soon because my laptop is crashing constantly. I am probably going to buy skyrim for pc then.

Nord Steel gauntlets
Bird steel boots
Apparently google image searches of Nordic valkerries... The skimpiest fur armor you can find.

I will stick with ancient nord armor in the beginning since it fits my shield the most, and see how steel plate looks like when i am able to get it.
I don't like the helmet of steel plate, but it is not a big problem for me to not wear a helmet. I do it on almost all of my characters.
The ancient nord helmet looks very good though. IMO

You do know that valkyries are almost always depicted either naked or in plain clothes? And why on earth would they look evil? Or is OP reffering to some anime and I'm just looking stupid?

Seriously don't rely on google. Especially with anything related to mythology- you'll likely only find fan art, and we know how fan art looks 90% of the time.

No, i actually mean those real mythological Valkyries. That is why i am most likely going for Ancient Nord armor. It is the closest to what i think of a female norse mythological creature. I like the norse looks and the fur of it. I try to imagine what skyrim would have made it look like if it had Valkyries, and go that way.

Well "real" Valkyries probably wouldn't wear lots of fur and whatnot, but imagining how they would look like if they'd be incorporated in TES world is definitely a good approach.
Going that route I'd probably go with steel myself, I think. I keep having Valkyrie from Diablo 2 in my mind for some reason. :P

Well, i think of the Valkyrie Profile jRPGs :hehe: Judging from that, Steel Plate and Wolf Armor would be the closest. But how can you play a Valkyrie without spears? :hehe:
