which "playstyle" has worked best have you enjoyed t

...i am still trying out different things...what have you enjoyed the most? what has worked the best? what hasnt? backstabbing? archery? fireballs? shield and sword? etc. etc....what are youre experiences?

besides others, i played now a while as a thief/mage combo which gets quite challenging (especially when youre lacking the perks to do more sneak damage)...a destruction spell on one hand often helps to aim at certain weaknesses but with light armor and a lot of enemies being extremely strong...im going down fast...you feel the lack of armor and shield in direct combats which you can not always avoid (especially during boss battles or when several chaurus attack at once)...what works often well is archery - on human enemies...on stronger beasts (chaurus, falmer)...things get tricky...

i also found out that due to the very steep increase in "magicka" costs for spells, its porbably hard to use a lot of spell schools at the same time...spreading out your character on a lot of skills seems difficult which i now realise...pure thief is also very challenging if you cant silently kill cause in direct combat without armor or magic aid.... havent tried a pure caster yet but i assume its very tough until you have enough spells/utility and magicka....

from my experience:

thief/thieflike gameplay starts the easiest but gets difficult very fast (maybe it gets easier again once you get most of the damage sneak skills)
daggers are useless if you dont have the sneak 15x dam skill...
bows are very useful to sneak kill...because you often can hide again and kill so even tougher enemies
focussing on few magic schools works better cause youll soon run out of magicka if you dont get the 50% perks...
destruction spells often help to combat single foes cause you can burn em to crisp while they are staggered from a powerattack or charging you (while a shield often staggers you when your being hit, at least in the beginning if you cant time a bash properly)

what have you learned so far? enjoyed?

Orc Warrior/Craftsman. Uses all crafting skills with Heavy Armor and Two-Handed. I have only died about four times compared to everything I have killed.

Sword and shield has worked fine for me...

biggest issue so far was fighting a Dragon outside Riverwood, and running back and forth for 15 minutes dodging fire and shouting "FUS DO" at it in a vein attempt to knock it down. I eventually had to lead into town have the guards shoot him down before I could do anything...

I am running a Dark Elf 'battle mage' style.

So far I have learned that frostbite is handy if there are large groups of enemies since it slows em down. I don't use it much compared to Spark though. Spark is my favorite destruction spell so far. Oh and I also learned that Ice Form is epic when you are surrounded. I just wish it didn't take so long to recharge.

A sword and good fire spell have brought me the most joy.

Sword in one hand, various spells in the other.

I'm currently getting carried away by smithing though...

^ playing the same here...the damage is obscene with +% 2h enchants/potions and berserker rage up >:D only thing to really challenge me was a frost mage in a room with four corrupted souls. It's not a great play style when you run up against mages and large groups. you can block some damage but not much :(

Imperial with high speech.
Find alot of gold + discount from speech = lots of septims :mohawk:
And then use smithing and enchanting with heavy armor, one handed, and conjuration for a battlemage who uses bound dual swords, which absorb souls and power enchantments on the heavy armor

I have learned to use a ward. When things heats up, use a ward to shield against magical attacks, and use shout to stun enemies and run, then fire magic attacks.
- Equip robes that gives 12% less magic consumption or increase magicka regeneration (I have amulet, robe, hood, etc, and I get insanely alot of regeneration and never run dry when using Novice spells, or even use more advanced spells)

When I run dry I begin to use 1 sword and my drain (from vampire)/Healing, or if its a higher leveled boss monster, I just run like crazy around and wait for my mana to regenerate.
