Which TV should I get?

Which of the two TVs above should I get? Looking online, they seem the best budget TV. I want it almost solely for my Xbox 360: playing games, accessing apps and a few DVDs. I also want built-in Freeview since I like to watch television at night.

Be serious. That isn't a budget television by any stretch of the imagine...

I'd go with the first one, because I'm not a fan of plasma TVs.

Depends on what you value the most. The Panasonic plasma TV have the best image quality, while the Samsung TV is more energy efficient and give you slightly lower electricity bills and is a bit lighter to carry.

EDIT: Oh, I haven't looked it up, but the Panasonic plasma TV probably have lower input lag, so it's more suitable for gaming.

I don't care about being electronically efficient. I want a good picture to play my games on! My concern is how the Panasonic isn't full HD though, which may be a concern in a year or so's time once technology progresses and gaming consoles begin to output 1080p (the Wii U will). However, the Samsung also has a low refresh rate and I actually like plasmas. The other Panasonic I saw, which was admittedly full HD and more money, was beautiful looking.

Might I ask why? They look quite nice to me...natural colours and all.

They aren't that bad, but they have some cons, one being that the screen tends to suffer from burn-ins if the TV displays an image (or something that's not moving) for too long. So sometimes an image will burn on the screen and stay there forever, if you're not careful.

I believe, from personal experience, that LCD displays have been worse for burn-ins than Plasmas (admittedly have only owned a single Panasonic). Regardless, I am not going to display long periods of a still image, unless a game perhaps displays text constantly in one part of the screen. Just want the best picture quality. Which TV has that?

Burn-ins from plasma TVs are extremely rare these days. They used to be rather common, but that was on models released 5+ years ago. They are pretty good at fighting that now.

Agreed. So, what TV do you recommend? The plasma offers much less motion blur with a faster frequency, which is always a nice touch for gaming, and there is also the more natural colours of plasma televisions. However, the Samsung offers a higher resolution with a low frequency. Do I need a Full HD television? Could a HD Ready still output 1080p?

I regret not buying a full HD tv for my Xbox 360. It makes no difference in resolution, but 1080p makes things look a bit smoother. I do not regret buying a plasma screen. The LCDs I've used have had serious input lag. Plasma all the way as long as you dont have lots of lights on in the room. The screen reflects horribly.

The television will be in front of the window, so no light could possible shine on it besides the small amount from the actual lights. I love plasmas too for their low input lag, lack of motion blur and often natural colours. However, I also do want a full HD TV. What do you think is better? Full HD LED Edge-lit or HD Ready Plasma? The Panasonic is 600 Hz whilst the Samsung is only 50 Hz, but the Samsung trumps it in resolution.

Option 1:

Full HD LCD
Suffers with motion-blur
Low refresh rate
Higher resolution

Option 2:

HD Ready Plasma
Natural colours
No motion-blur
No input lag
Lower resolution

It is basically a simple question of whether or not Full HD is really needed or whether having no input lag and less motion-blur is better for gaming?

Something to consider here is power consumption. Plasma TVs use a ton of power compared to other TVs. If power is cheap where you live, that shouldn't matter much, but otherwise...

No need to rush, the Panasonic is £330 on Amazon.

http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B007ISAL4C/ref=mp_s_a_1?qid=1352757461&sr=8-1&pi=SL75

I'll have a look around and see if I can't find a full HD Panasonic.
