Same story so it just depends on your own personal role play I guess xD

Dawnguard because the Vampire Lord form is useless and the Vampires look ugly with theiryellow eyes.
It's sad because I was really hyped for the Vampire Side

The quest line to either is (mostly) identical. The Radiant quests are also similar, but the rewards are quite different. VL for is only "useless" if you can't play it. I can Darth Vader a Master Vampire, pulling him to me across a room and choking the (un)life from him, no problem. Bat form (limited teleport) is incredibly useful in many places as well. Anyway, depends on your play style/motivation. I can see where the DG side can get REALLY boring after you fulfill the MQ. There is, honestly, not really anything to do any longer except maybe find the Rune items. On the vamp side, well, you're still a VL (unless you get cured).

BTW, anyone figure out what the cursed arrows are supposed to do? I've aimed them at the sun to no effect.

With useless I ment that it has no real advantages (without mods) over a good mage.
I can kill faster in my "normal" form and being a vampire didn't help me at all

Besides the RP aspects, you mean? Actually, VL, plain vanilla, no enchants versus the same in a mage takes a LOT less damage, making melee not only possible, but quite fun on occasion as well. One also has to *assume* that the PC is then a mage. There's quite a difference between stealth archer and VL form, FWIW.

Almost the same, the only thing noteworthy is that Dawnguard members get some more "rewards". As for your choice, ask your character what he/she would want more.

I'd say it depends if you want to play a vampire or not. If I play another character after this one, I'd do dawnguard since I want to be a werewolf.

as others have said, it's up to your character. My Argonian chose the Dawnguard after the vamps killed one of his friends, my Dunmer chose the vamps because he was already a vampire so it made sense to him. :D

Both sides are mainly the same.. I prefer the Dawnguard mainly due to the fact that I'm a good person.. I can't stand the "Evilness" of the Volkihar Clan.. Just makes me uneasy.. And I did tried doing the Vampire-Side.. Eh.. No. Dawnguard any-day.. I can still be a Vampire Lord anyways on the Dawnguard side...

As a vampire at start you can get some items to buff your vampire lord form a bit.

As dawnguard you get more weapons and vampire lord, just no items to buff VL

Me too, i just always choose good. The only exception is the Thieves' Guild, honor among Thieves. that's why i was angered by the 1st quest for the Thieves was extortion, that just svcked, especially when the shopkeepers hated you for the rest of your life.

and for the angel idea, I've never heard of it but i'm guessing that it's always do good?

It's more about the roleplaying aspect. What your character would do, not what the benefits are. That, and which side you think is more justified. Do you want the organized silent killers or the organized genocidal hunters? Both sides are pretty neutral and by that, I don't mean Harkon, just the group in general.

Personally, I went Vampire just because the Dawnguard...bleh. I like their crossbows and armor but the fact that they worship Stendarr completely conflicts with two aspects of my character: My character hates the Vigilant of Stendarr and he worships Sithis only.
