So, on my latest character, I've gone through and done the initial quest to visit the mountain and learn the whirlwind shout, and a few minor quests on the way... and all of a sudden Whiterun is broke!

First attempt was fast-travel in... instant CTD. Then attempted to fast-travel to Dragonsreach (the Jarl's building in Whiterun) - CTD. Then I tried fast travelling to Riverwood and walking to Whiterun - clicking the gate once I reached Whiterun, instant CTD. Tried disposing of my follower, levelling up (I've been saving my levels), dropping all my items, un-tracking all of my quests - still CTD's.

I've tried verifying files, resetting my .ini to defaults, low and ultra settings, windowed and full-screen mode, I've even tried with and without the "4gb memory aware patch". I have no mods whatsoever installed.

I've uploaded a save-file in the hopes that either some other kind soul would be willing to spend 5 minutes seeing if they can enter Whiterun with this save (and if you can, would you mind saving inside Whiterun and sending the save back to me, maybe that'll work!?) - or if it crashes for everyone, then this might be useful to Bethesda for bug-tracking.

Aaaaaaaargh, this never happened with any of my last 3 characters, and they've all progressed much further into the game and done far more quests and things!

then u allready answered ur own question

maybe its a bug with specific quests that u did on that character but not with ur other 3, also have u tried just moving 2 meters then saving again, each new save is fresh and should/would be bug free from ur characters stats perspective. not world events maybe.

I've tried many saves and as many different things as I can think of. I just tried by quitting Steam altogether and running the game directly, so no Steam overlay/interface that might conflict - no dice I don't really want to continue playing on that character, because it might be a sign that the character is bugged and more things will crash it, or I might be permanently locked out of Whiterun which will be too hard to play (given many quests lead back there this early on). If anyone else is willing to try the save-file out and let me know if it's just my PC, then that'd be great and give me something to go on... if it crashes for others, then it's nothing I can fix other than to wait for a Bethesda patch

revert to 1 of the previous 12 saves and see if it still does it.

other than that start again, ur save is screwed? and no i wont try ur save sorry short on time and dont rly trust it., im sure someone else might

Found one save that works if I fast-travel to Whiterun, about 4 hours back though. *sigh*.

I'm going to leave that save there as hell it might be useful to gamesas if they want to try it out and debug with it, might lead them to one of the no doubt many sources of crashes for people, rather than them simply relying on DXDiags. If this character corrupts a 2nd time, I'm going to give in, cry, and just stop playing til we see a couple of patches

I was playing without a bug, no fps drop or flickering textures, or bug quest but now !
I can't enter to Whiterun or the castle and i've notice :
(For me) It is during the quest called "Une Légende interdite" ( yeah i'm sorry it's in french )

Ahhhh I am on that quest too! I started it before I did the first quest to get the whirlwind spring/visit the dragon voice people.

Must be that quest Maybe I will try and complete it and then head back to Whiterun... hope you don't need to visit Whiterun to complete it!
