Who are your 'Top Five' characters of this generation?

Post » Sun Nov 17, 2013 7:45 pm

So, with the PS4 and XBox One closing the PS3/XBox 360 era, who are your top five most memorable characters of this generation of gaming? (Note: PC gaming is included, I just used consoles as a defining marker of what I meant by 'generation'.)

For me personally, I'd have to say it's the following in no real order:

1. Mr. House (Fallout: New Vegas)

2. John Marston (Red Dead Redemption)

3. Sander Cohen (Bioshock)

4. Andrew Ryan (Bioshock)

5. The Grey Fox (TES IV: Oblivion) ((Yes, an odd choice I guess, but I thought he was a great character.))

Who are those on your list of 'memorable characters'?

Mine are:

1: Booker and Elizabeth (Bioshock: Infinite).

2: The entire Reagan Family (Blue Bloods).

3: Cortana (Halo Series).

4: Sunset Shimmer (MLP:EQG---she was pretty decent villain).

5: John "Soap" Mactavish and Captain Pryce (Call of Duty: Modern Warfare series).

Booker Dewiit (Bioshock Infinite)

Elizabeth Comstock (Bioshock Infinite)

Andrew Ryan (Bioshock)

John Marston (Red Dead Redemption)

Vanille Oerba Dia (Final Fantasy XIII)

1. Da Qiao(Dynasty Warriors 8)

2. Luciene Luchance(TES IV: Oblivion)

3. Kinzie(Saint's Row 4)

4. Raimi(Star Ocean 4; This would have been Edge Maverick but when he turned all emo, it killed my enjoyment of the game)

Ooh, good question. I suppose if the character has had a dramatic shift in character evolution from last gen to this gen then yes it could count.

I rather liked Andrew Ryan too, but since he been mentioned twice I skip him
  • Francis York Morgan (Deadly Premonition: The Director's Cut)
  • GLaDOS (Portal series)
  • KainĂ© (Nier)
  • Shun Akiyama (Yakuza 4)
  • Missile (Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective)
Oh yeah, Daud from the Dishonored (and his DLCs) wasn't so bad either.

Speaking of DLC, Ashur from the Fallout 3 DLC 'The Pitt' was a damn memorable character. (And one of the few, IMO, well written ones in the game.)

Geralt - The Witcher

Alistair - Dragon Age: Origins

Legion - Mass Effect 2 & 3

I have to think about the other two slots. :)

1. The Courier from Fallout New Vegas, because I had such immense control over what kind of person he would be.

2. Neloth. Great to see the old curmudgeon again and he has amazing dialogue.

Ehm. I struggle to recall any other characters I found of note. I'll get back on this.
