So who plays Rocksmith?

Haven't seen a Rocksmith thread on this forum. Maybe people don't play guitar? Take my word for it - you can learn to play guitar or bass with this game.

Firstly, of course you need an electric guitar. Any brand will do, it can be a USD100 Fender-copy or a USD3000 Les Pauls. Doesn't matter as long as it has pickups.

I my self hooked up my Jackson Dinky DK2 Pro skull http://static.musiciansfriend.com/derivates/18/001/277/758/DV016_Jpg_Large_511668.055_skulls.jpg which has a Floyd Rose.
Floyd Rose isn't "supported" by the game as it always tells you to use the tuning pegs on the headstock which is false if you have a Floyd Rose-equipped guitar. but I'm sure they they expect that Floyd Rose-users knows how to tune their guitars.

The game mostly consists of songs in Standard E-tuning but in the vanilla game there are a few that uses Drop-D. They game apparantly does not support C or Drop-C tunings which is bad for us that wanted to mash some SOAD and so forth, and being that C is not supported neither is B so no Korn or Slipknot either.

The game starts with basic songs and basic gameplay. In the beginning you play much like a bass, ie one string one note. You play about 1/4 of the actual notes. If you hit the majority of the notes the game will progress in difficulty on the fly, so the same easy song can turn to a hard song just a few minutes later. If you fail to hit the full chords, for example, the game will go down to just one string strumming again.

So even if you never played before this game will help you learn. I myself have played for 11 years so for me the songs will be more difficult than they are for you, which is hard on those songs I've never heard before. Thus even I as an experinced player will have to play the same song over and over again in order to get 100%.

Now I play on PS3 with HDMI to my TV. This will yeild significant lag from the guitar input and since you're playing a real guitar you will hear the sound twice, first from your guitar and up to 500ms later from the speakers. This makes the game unplayable. This is not the fault of PS3 or Ubisoft, but from your TV that converts the sound to Digital which takes time. To solve this I bougth myself an adapter thas has RCA-female-to-Stereo-female so I'm using the PS3's standard RCA-cable as well as HDMI and connected the RCA to the adapter, and then just a regular stereo headset to the adapter as well which works wonderful, from my headphones there's pretty much zero input lag which made the game all that more enjoyable.

So guys, anyone else playing? Questions?
