I had a look using the search thingy- majig, but didn't find anything recent; so, what are people's opinion's on the new Doctor Who episode? Did you love it or hate it?

Personally I enjoyed the whole episode from start to finish, although I'm not sure how I feel about the way

Amy and Rory's relationship was fixed with during the episode.

There was a lot of potential drama wasted by just blowing it off like that I felt.

Anyway, feel free to report/close this thread if there's already a recent one I've missed.

It really felt like they're so blase about

the daleks just up and calling the Doctor in to help them. It's like he's just the go to agony aunt for everybody in the universe, regardless of his history with them.

Still, it was worth watching just for http://static.bbci.co.uk/programmeimages/944x531/images/p00y2wh7.jpg with her incredibly cute giant eyes and propensity to keep rakishly grinning directly at the camera.

What were they planning for the 50th anniversary again? Were they going to reveal the Doctor's real origins or just cop out of it somehow?

For the first time ever i didnt watch the dr who last season and i can see this one probably wont be any different, this is what happens when you start catering for the U.S. market, and branding it dr who america and not like the good old days of driving around in quarries, good stories not big on special effect, now big flashy effects, lacking on a decent story.

Yes, I enjoy big flashy effects, I don't want a good story. Exactly what I want out of Doctor Who. Good going generalising me.

@Turns- Who knows. It's always some interesting reason something happens in the show. It is rather odd they'd call him though. As for that pic, her eyes, those aren't natural. It's like looking into the eyes of an owl ;-;

Started watching it when the 9th Doctor came around and just got caught up on the 11th. I'm enjoying every bit of it. Have to say, the 9th Doctor was really underrated.

My first exposure to Dr. Who was with the 4th Doctor, when my dad gave me a bunch of comics of the 4th Doctor when he watched it, along with the book that was about the origin of the Daleks (4th Doctor also).

The Daleks calling on the doctor for help doesnt make sense.
The Daleks converting a human to a Dalek makes absolutely no sense whatsoever. It goes against all that is Dalek.
I am very displeased about how they made the name of the show a gimmick in the episode. The whole point is that he is called the Doctor.
The entire joke of the title is destroyed with this.
The episode ignored a lot of established lore in favour of a mushy sap story designed to play on teen girls emotions.
Its not a good show anymore. I thought they started going really downhill as of last series.

the new ipod daleks in this one seemed to have a load of the old copper timewar daleks with them. I thought the whole point of the new ones was that they'd killed off the old tired ones and replaced their own history with themselves. Now it seems like they just decided their budget didn't allow for any new daleks so they'd just reuse the four copper daleks they have. But that wouldn't explain why the eight or so new ones weren't enough but the four old ones were, nor why they filled the ship with CGI copper daleks either.

I actually think the Smith era has been the best and closest to the original series. At least it is when Steven Moffat is writing the episode. Although it feels like they're both trying to hearken back to old canon and at other times completely ignore it in favour of a fantasy fairy tale with no scientific explanation, not even technobabble.

As for that pic, her eyes, those aren't natural. It's like looking into the eyes of an owl ;-;

let alone she should know the Doctor. That or the same actress plays two parts in the same series of a show, even weirder than 'will someday meet you in your past'.

Time can be rewritten, maybe he goes back and saves her before she becomes a Dalek after the ponds leave, who knows? I just go with it! See wibbly wobbly timey wimey, that makes perfect sense! I doubt it would be another case of River Song thing, i.e know their fate type thing. Time will tell, but we have to wait till Christmas to find out!

Do you seriously include series 6 in that statement? Because Moffat seems to have lost all of his writing skills in his episodes post-astronaut. Absolute crap pacing and stuff like that. I was a fan of Moffat taking over too, and series five was probably the best of New Who, but series 6 was very likely the worst, IMO.
