Who will you create now?

Post » Mon May 14, 2012 6:01 am

I wanted, and always wanted from the start, to make a stealth mage assassin character. I have been switching up what perks i wanted to use since the beginning trying to refine my character's potential. I initially went with this:

Khajiit-

Seak

Light Armor

Lockpick

Destruction

Illusion

Archery

One-handed

But after seeing that the Light Armor perks are geared more towards stamina regeneration and avoiding damage I think I will forfeit caring about the perks for Light armor. I will still use light armor but instead I will enchant it (unless I am better at sneaking without armor at all)
I also don't see a need for lockpicking perks as I like to save right before trying a lock anyway in case I break a lot of locks. I don't care too much about the extra treasure as it is probably minute at best. Here is my new lineup, not only tell me what you think but also list your own if your character preferences have changed!

khajiit-

Sneak

Alteration

Destruction

Illusion

Conjuration (the perk that allows you to summon further away from you looks like it could be fun in conjunction with sneaking)

Enchanting (instead of light armor perks I will enchant my equipment, bow and armor/clothing)

Archery (something to fall back on when I don't have magicka left, also ranged so that my squishy mage can not only keep distance but summon something with conjuration to keep enemies at bay and occupied)

Had to edit my post because I screwed up on what my original build was going to be... it's fixed now.. sorry

Was:
  • alteration
  • one-handed
  • destruction
  • light armor
  • restoration
  • illusion

Now, after the light armor perks have been released (and also don't interest me in the slightest), I'm ditching light armor perking and leveling these

  • alteration
  • one-handed
  • destruction
  • enchant
  • restoration
  • (?)

Still undecided between Illusion and Sneak with regard to perking. Any thoughts? Based on your choices, OP, I was wondering whether having both might be redundant, given that illusion can hide you just as well and contains spells to charm your way through character interactions (personality augmentation). I guess the throat-slitting and superb damage bonuses are tempting for sneak, though.
Adding this again (OP referred me to this thread)

Speech will be my main perk. Serious. :D

Combat wise, I too will be a stealth mage... in all robes as well. The greatly increased magicka regen will be amazing.

Maybe it isn't such a bad thing that they geared Light Armor towards stamina for berserker dual wielders and rangers... I mean, mages should use robes..

Well, after seeing Light Armour like everyone else, I have moved away from it. I was in a toss up between a stealthy character and a tank character, and now it is much easier. I am looking at:

  • Block
  • Heavy Armour
  • Enchanting
  • Smithing

As my main skills, with:

  • One Handed
  • Archery
  • Restoration

As my minor skills. I want enough in Restoration to get the once a day heal and the regeneration, so it is rather major, I simply value other things above it. Archery is just there for a ranged attack, only the damage perks I think, and likewise for 1H.

I like the light armor perks. They are geared to help make Light Armor more effective, and restore stamina faster. I think, from what all I've heard, stamina is going to play a big role. As for avoiding damage, that would be very helpful when dual wielding daggers.

-Bosmer

-one handed
-sneak
-light armor
-illusion
-archery
-lockpicking

I spent a reasonable amount of time on this. A very reasonable amount of time...

I will be a shady Breton with an occasional soft spot for NPC's. I will probably use:
1 handed short sword (possible dual wield)
illusion magic
Necromancy
Light armor (Or no armor, possibly robes assassin's creed style if they can be found)
speech

I am making the same character (in my sig) as I planned since that is the concept. The perks fit well and look good to me. Has anybody figured out if stealth kills cost stamina? or if holding the bow back costs stamina? For stealth characters, stamina might be important for these reasons or for protection/speed if discovered. In addition, who knows what (hopefully) cool light armors especially unique and artifact types are in Skyrim. Dark Brotherhood armor is light armor by tradition as well...

*points to sig*

But I'll type it here anyway.

I'm going with this.
------------------
Race

Khajiit
------------------
Equipment

  • Robe
  • Hood
  • Dagger
--------------------------
Perks

  • Conjuration - 11 perks
  • Destruction - 11 perks
  • Alteration - 7 perks
  • Speech - 6 perks
  • Sneak - 6 perks
  • Pickpocket - 6 perks
  • Alchemy - 2 perks

1 point saved until I see the full Alteration Perk tree.
--------------------------

My older build was like this but had less pickpocket, sneak, and speech, and more illusion; with archery.

Lol I was planning to make exactly the same character as yours. :) With the same skills and race. Just wondering if there will be one handed bonus like in Oblivion for the stealth attacks. Lets hope there is equal bonus for 2h too. Love 2h swords. :toughninja:

I will create multiple characters even more distinct from each other than my Oblivion or Morrowind ones hopefully. Some of said characters will be the ancestors of my Skyrim characters.
