Who is your favorite Deity?

Post » Sat Sep 29, 2012 12:12 am

Browsing the forums I found that most people have a very different opinion on the deities of Skyrim and the Elder Scrolls in general. Which is your favorite deity of Skyrim and why?

You like a lot of the Daedras I take it, cant say I like em' that much myself, although, ya cant hate Sheogorath  I keep to more "goodie-two-shoes" of the gods like Shor and Talos.

I like them all of the Divines, and even some of the daedra. I also like Sithis, but I don't think he really counts as a diety, per se.

I'm fond of Lorkhan for creating the mortal plane and all, even though a certain body part of his caused lots of nasty things to happen. Thanks, Lorkhan?
Out of Daedric Princes, Sheogorath for chaotic creativity, Boethiah for rebellion, Mephala, well, mostly because it's very mysterious.
Maybe Azura, for teh evulness.
Out of Divines, Akatosh, Kynareth, and Julianos.
I have some more favorites, but they're not worshiped in Skyrim as far as I know.
I see the "Elder Scrolls in general" up there, so I'll add Sotha Sil and Baan Dar.

I doubt someone will have Molag Bal as their personal favorite since his domains are domination, [censored], vampirism, corruption and slavery. And If I'm correct he is also known as "King of [censored]" :ermm:

I remember when I tried to dress up as Bal...

Am I Bal enough?

He's not one of my favorites, but people might be fond of him for being the ancestor of vampires.

"King of [censored]"... Now that's catchy!

About the Divines, I don't love them as much in-game as Daedra Princes, because the latter have much more coverage. You can even see most of them, and more or less interact with all of them. The Divines, on the other hand, are hidden. Not even that many worshippers around to have much information about them. And no Avatars (as far as I know!).

I'd have to pick Sheo or Sanguine as one of my favorites. They're so over-the-top and have pretty much content in the game. As for Divines... if the whole MQ really is a predestined irony thingy from Akatosh to his brother (if they are separate entities in this case), I'd say Akatosh really has a great sense of irony! I mean, look at the timing of Alduin's arrival in the opening animation! The only thread to him is about to get executed, yet he doesn't seem to have any idea about it. Somewhere, Akatosh might be deciding this timing, and chuckling in his fiery sleeve!

Azura is one of the only good Daedra Lords. I personally like Hircine and Sheogorath.

King of [censored], enjoys eating graqe, usually appears in a goat shape. He likes to gape through the draqe, he'll wrap you in tape so you can't escape.

And no Avatars (as far as I know!).

Some from Morrowind: Ama Nin (Mara), Jon Hawker (Zenithar), Wulf (Talos/Tiber).

Azura is one of the only good Daedra Lords.

Nope. She may be the subtlest Prince of them all, but no cake for goodness.

...because who doesn't like beating a priest to death multiple times with a rusty mace?

Our domination over the weak is a blessing!

Yes, I'm aware of them. Those are pretty much the reason why I even thought there could be some in later games.

But the slight problem here is, this is Skyrim and I see none here! (And that's not to say there aren't those. I am too stupid to recognize them anyway even if I talk with them. :P)

I haven't seen any in Skyrim, either.

From the Aedra: Dibella. It has a deep meaning to my character, apart from being a nice goddess and all :)

From the Daedra: Azura. She's the patron of my character's nordic clan (I know it's a bit odd, being a Dark Elf-preferred deity, but well...).

Maybe there are, but they just aren't explained. Froki could easily be Kynareth, for example. The thing is, would you have recognized these Ama Nin, Jon Hawker and Wulf without UESPWiki or the Imperial Cult priestess? I'm sure I wouldn't have. :P

Talos, I think. Playing Skyrim, I usually get a really Nord-ish feel, even when playing other characters, and I like the prospect of this bad-ass Nord ascending to god-hood.

Concerning Daedric Princes, Sheogorath is easily my favourite. He is easy to like, but underneath all that, he is still a pretty complex character. I'm not too fond of most other Daedra, though.

could argue the dovakiin is the embodiment of Akatosh... I would go with Talos and Akatosh, out of the divines.Azura, Memphala and Boethiah.

I'm sure I'll regret asking this but... how "deep"? D:

Anybody like Meridia? I mean, she may be a bit of a [censored] but her domains are Life and Energy after all.
