Why all the hate against console-players?

There's a lot of threads here and on other forums where PC-gamers rage against consoles and console-players. Why?

I my self play on consoles AND ON PC. However, console is much more affordable for me since I work a full-time job and have a woman and such, time is not unlimited. So since three years back I play 90% on console, both Xbox360 and PS3.

My job provides me with a computer, not suited for gaming though. So I made 200h of Diablo3-gameplay last year during work, and got pretty tired of it. The PC could handle it, but not in fullscreen.
Then came Skyrim, and I knew that the PC would not be able to handle it, so I got it for PS3. After a year or so it was very apparent that the PS3 will never be able to handle it, so now I play it on the Xbox360.

I can afford to buy a very good computer today and play games of course - but I won't be able to play enough for the price to be worth it. Ie I buy a PC for 2000EUR and enjoy games 3-5 hours per week. In a few months the computer will be less-than-extreme, and in a year or two, pretty much obsolete. So even if I had this awesome PC I wouldn't have enough time to game to feel it was a good purchase.

This makes the consoles more affordable. Sure, they have lower performance and limitations, but as it is, I'm finding it hard to complete vanilla-games, let alone custom mods and so forth. MMO is not to speak of, since MMO require a ton of time in order to be fun. I played Wow so I know. "Time is of the essence". I even skipped jobs to play Wow, for crying out loud. I'm sure alot of you have done that as well, skipping work or school to play online games.

So for me a console is better, both money-wise and gameplay-wise.

So please don't call me "console jockey," "console kiddie" "console really devoted fan" and so forth. I'be been playing games since 1990, both console and PC. I've been more "hardcoe" than the majority of today's gamers, but that time has passed. I am an advlt now, 26 years old.

My brother is 28, and he hates consoles as well. He has a very good gaming computer and is very skilled at games. He does have a job which he normally goes to every day. He also lives with our mom... He does not earn a lot of money, maybe 11-1300EUR a month, but he has few bills to pay. Broadband, phone, food and a small fee for mom for doing cleaning and so forth. He has no one to call, so his phone-bill is pretty much only the monthly fee. He only talks via voice-chat on the computer. There he has his friends which he has never met. He's never had a woman. He's never outside, except when going to and from work and to and from the store. He enjoys his life so there's no reason he should change it, but I my self don't want to end up at my mother's place.

So. Don't see me as your enemy, see me as a veteran. I've played the games that made the foundation of today's games!

Because it's just about the only way that nerds can feel superior over normal, functional people.

I just love that smug sense of superiority you've got going there, "My brother is a PC games and loser, ergo being a PC gamer would make me a loser".

Nonono, you are wrong. He's NOT a loser. He's having the life he wants to have. It's just that I know that I could end up like that if my games got the control of me, and that's why I stopped with MMOs and so forth - because I KNOW that the games can make me skip work and such. Eventually my woman would leave and so forth.

edit: I am a geek. I have lots of geek-stuff. I am a nerd. A gaming-addict. But I've chosen to restrain myself.

I think it also depends on the family for each gamer im young and honestly i would never be able to pc game because my family is pc oriented, if I got a pc they would use it no matter what but, with my tv and ps3 they do not know how to use it so it's just mine and I can't hog the pcs but I can with my ps3.

I do think consoles are inferior to PC but I don't think that console players are inferior to PC players in any way, that's just idiotic thinking. Judging a group of people because of the hardware they use is the height of stupidity.

However I dislike many console users because of the constant torrent of fools who keep asking if they can use mods on consoles. Will they ever learn??
