Why are FORCING us to play in a certain way? no 3rd person v

Hello and grats on the launch,

the game is nice but i don't know why u wouldn't give us the option to adjust the camera or view like Elder scroll games?

People are extremely different on the ways they play and enjoy games. If a person likes the 1st person, then its great, and he can use it. While, another prefers a 3rd person view, he would be able to play too.

Well for me, the 3rd person view is more than a mere option as i get severe Motion Sickness from first person camera/view. after 30 min, i will get nauseated and ending up throwing up. ISnt this fun !!!!!

The game has many great features and options (such as native gamepad support).

I hope you will add this feature in a coming patch; and leave the gamers to choose how they want to play it.

PS: this is not a thread about FP vs. 3rd person; but a thread to add a feature that many are wishing for (search the net on how many threads asking for this)

anyway, good job, hope it gets better

Unfortunately, that's not really how it works.

Third person relies on major design changes to function correctly. The current stealth system would be totally botched. Dark vision would become almost obsolete because you would increase the corner peaking you could do by a good 90 degrees. The ceilings in every interior area would have to be redone to accomodate the higher camera. The 3rd person camera would have to be fine-tuned. Combat in its current state wouldn't exist. Dishonored would be a different game, and both vantage points would suffer from the compromises (see also: Thief 3, which didn't even have a *real* combat system to worry about, just a dagger).

They don't force you to play a certain way, this game just is first person.
As it should be, I might add. This first person thing adds a lot to the game, and it is a pretty big part of the game.
And as ResonanceCascade said, this isn't just an overlay you could add. And besides, it would ruin a decent chunk of the gameplay fun.

It's how the game was designed and executed. I could complain about, say, Assassin's Creed and say "why are they forcing me to play in 3rd person??" but
I acknowledge that it's how the game is designed, and enjoy it all the same.

Agreed. I believe Dishonored was made to be played in first-person.

and leave the gamers to choose how they want to play it.

I may be completely wrong when I say this, but, I'm also assuming that's it's not that easy to just patch an option to include a third-person perspective.

The game is already out. It's too late.

There are more than enough 3rd person stealth games for you to go play. First person only stealth games have become more rare every gen, and I hope they don't cave in and let it go completely extinct.

Two open world, non stealth (or rather, stat-based stealth) games with janky 3rd person, a Thief game (I'm assuming you mean Deadly Shadows and not the Dark Project) that was genuinely hurt by the third person viewpoint, and a game that has no first person mode at all. These aren't really great examples, tbh.

There's nothing wrong with third person (Arkham Asylum is one of my favorite games), but adding it in would change the essence of this particular game for very particular reasons. THAT was my point. 1st/3rd has been done well in games like Jedi Outcast and Escape From Butcher Bay. The same would not work here.

Design choices do not equal being "forced" into anything.

This is akin to complaining about being "forced" into driving a car while playing Forza.
