Why are there no underwater things?

Post » Fri Jun 15, 2012 10:11 am

we have all this vast ocean and lakes and rivers, like give us some content where we can swim, cast spells and fight off enemies. Also - Winterhold, college, rest of city in ocean - where? there are no ruins? there are no nothing.....wtf.

I've always said this was a neglected area in the Elder Scrolls. What I really don't like is the fact that we can swim so easily in the water with all of our equipment on. We should be slow and sluggish. And there's not much difference between Argonians and any other race, which there should be a major difference. Also, you can simply see too well, even after the 1.5 update. What Bethesda could do with this is have some kind of submarine (not a nuclear, high tech sub, but some kind of primitive Dwemer sub). Something heavy and bulky. It should move slowly but allow the player to go to the depths of the ocean floor. There's very little content under the water and I've always thought Bethesda should do something with this.

You need to spend more time swimming along the northern shore. There's plenty of stuff to find underwater ...

I've logged so many hours, I'm afraid to admit just how many and I'm not sure what you mean aside from some shipwrecks and a few islands. Can you elaborate? Also, does Skyrim have a Fingleam? I've always wondered.

I find boats and shipwrecks underwater, and the occasional slaughterfish but other than that nothing. =/ Bethesda should consider adding some underwater ruins or something. We have waterbreathing enchantments lets put them to good use.

There's a lot more underwater content than there was in Oblivion. Oblivion's underwater was a barren wasteland. Neither are as interesting as Morrrowind, though.

I agree, I wish we could defend ourselves from Slaughterfish while underwater, as we could in Morrowind and Oblivion.

Hmmmm... a DLC focused entirely underwater which also adds combat underwater, too.

I find a few chests under waterfalls sometimes but nothing interesting at all :/ it would be cool to see the Giant Slaughterfish make a return or maybe add some Sea Dragons that dont have wings..... Or a hydra just for kicks

Sea life would be an amazingly awesome feat. There should be something that roams throughout the seas though.. and that EATS YOUR ASS if you are that unlucky to swim near it. The fear factor would be intense lol.

I spent some time swimming far out to sea off the north shores, and whenever I ducked underwater I always had that little thought in the back of my mind that there could be a giant sea-monster just waiting to loom through the murkyness, but nothing. Apart from a few fish and the odd ship-wreck, I've found very little to interest me underwater.

And I agree that swimming in Heavy Armour shouldn't be possible...you should sink and have to unequip it.
