Why am I being asked to KILL Paarthurnax?

Post » Tue Jun 05, 2012 2:19 pm

Funny how Esbern and Delphine fail to mention that the Blades harbored several dragons under the reign of the Septims.

If I was playing on PC. I'd console command Delphine to Sibbi Black-Briar's cell, make everything right with Esbern, and continue running the Blades with him. I think I'd actually be able to reason with Esbern and convince him to let it go. Delphine's the crazed zealot in my mind.

I was just doing the peace treaty quest and randomly Delphine and Esbern want me to kill Paarthurnax. I find it ridiculous there is no option to say no, Paarthurnax is actually really cool and I refuse to kill him. Has anyone stumbled upon this situation? What did you do? And what can I do?

Grudge, plain and simple.

you don't have to kill him. Just continue with the alduin quest and after you do it tell one of the greybears that you wont kill him and it should remove the quest from your journal.

Because Dragons are of the species draconis superiorus, with sub species of draconis superiourus flamus and draconis superiorus frostius, and are at the top of the food chain, and man and mer think that they themselves belong at the top of the food chain. That's the bottom line. Ask any lion in Africa or tiger in India about that. You as the dragonborn, if you are nord are homo sapien draconis. If you are Dunmer, you are homo dunmeris draconis. You get the picture?

Okay I made up all that, except for the lion and tiger thing. You can ask M'aiq about the lion and tiger thing. Delphine and Esbern just want to ensure that there are no more dragons on top of the food chain. I think there needs to be something to keep the man and mer population in check, otherwise look what we've got today.

Your options are simple:
  • Let it live and love Paarthurnax.
  • Kill it and all of Skyrim will love you.
Do not worry about the Greybeards or the Blades. The Greybeards cannot care for themselves and need others to carry food up the hill and into the stupid cold. They will be glad for it, too, when it is gone. The Blades only state the obvious by demanding that it must die. So no news there.

actually i think its this reason they have no problem with Oavawhaticantthinkoffullnamerightnow is because i reconizes u as his new master basically while Paar is under no man's control. One dragon is at ur service whenever u call and one wants to go off and become the new dragon king.

Odah considers the dovahkiin the new Alduin. That's why he's in your service.

Poor Odah. My one toon that was his "new Alduin" is long deleted.... I guess he's in that same limbo now.

Paarthurnax also hasn't killed in over 5,000 years. Odahviing doesn't want to master the way of the voice in peace, he even considers it tyrannical. He acts just as a normal dragon would, the only difference is he chose to serve you after you ousted Alduin. Were you to die, it's pretty much guaranteed Odahviing would go back to doing what most dragons do: Destroying the lesser races. Paarth at least shows promise and redemption, not simply "going with the stronger guy". He defied Alduin even when it meant he could be killed just to save the lesser races, twice.I mean yeah I love Odahviing, real kick ass dragon to have around. But he's a living, breathing contradiction of the "Oath" the Blades flaunt when it's convenient. That's why I don't take them seriously, among other reasons.

true but as long as hes under my control hes not goign out and doing random violence. I just see it as a situation of control. The blades are trying to protect the land from the dragons and in the past they spared temporarly the dragons that were under thier control until said dragons broke away and went back to their instincts. So u got one draon under ur control that isnt doign random acts of violence and u got one dragon that isnt doing random acts of violence but hes under no ones control and is goign to take alduins spot in the dragon lineage as the "king dragon". Again i think it boils down to control, when the current dragonborn dies and odahviing goies back to random violence then he will be hunted down.

Introduction: That is the only non-bugged quest I leave hanging there.
Point: Paarthurnax is a nice guy
Point: Delphine and Esbern are bad guys

Conclusion: Kill Delphine and Esbern
Counterargument: Delphine and Esbern are essential
Solution: Hate them forever

Make the children non-essential and watch dragons do "atrocious acts" with your own eyes.

You will change your mind.

I saw an imperial try to behead an innocent man. Clearly all imperials are bloodthirsty murderers and should be eliminated.

Beheading one man for his crimes is far from being the same as burning children. You are just sad.

All dragons = Paarthurnax is not a logical conclusion.

dicto simpliciter

Why the need for a logical conclusion? He admits to it.

To killing children?

Nope.

In fact the blades state that the reason they want Paarth dead is because he killed some of their ancestors. You know the people that went around tamriel slaughtering every dragon they found?

Sure he did. He admits to being evil like the rest of them.

But here is a thought: maybe it is all lies and Paarthurnax is trolling everyone and is in real a cute little rabbit that got wabberjacked. :bunny:

Think of them as Nords which will bash skulls, crack bones and hate all the rest of the races in a not so distant future.

You're just saving yourself the trouble of clearing some bandit caves or fighting the next Ulfric in ten years time.

Nonsense. There is proof of his atrocious acts in history and he admits to it. It is a confession. Your defense was made pointless by Paarthurnax itself. Every defendant will tell you this.

If I admit to stealing, I am not admitting to manslaughter.

Being associated with a group does not make all your ideals and actions the same as the group as a whole.

Paar says he's killed men before, nothing more.(Actually I don't recall him even saying what he did) To make the jump to child murder is ridiculous.

We can call this discussion done, especially as it had been dragged to the depths of child killing.
