So I'm a Khajiit in Skyrim. And for some reason I can breathe underwater. Like, no bar comes up at all for my amount of breath, just nothing. I don't have any special helmets or armor on to do this, and I heard it's just Argonians that can breathe underwater. So is this just a bug?

There is no breath meter in Skyrim. Eventually, you will die. Lol

I'm curious as to this also, I've spent a considerable time underwater doing the Thieves guild's first quest, and to no detriment. I'm tempted to attempt self-drowning just to see if it's possible.

..I do have a potion of water breathing in my inventory though, so logically it was at least intended that characters could drown.

Im a Nord and i can stay underwater and not die, has to be a bug.

I had the Misfortune of getting stuck down a grate once.


Yes, you can drown.

It isn't a bug. There just isn't a health bar. I experienced this yesterday while raiding a dungeon. I'm an Orc and was able to stay under for a considerable amount of time, but my health started to deplete and my character was obviously straining as he gargled and tried to gasp for air. I made it out safely. But just because there isn't a breath bar doesn't make you Aqua Man.

Thank goodness for that. Who would want to be Aquaman?
