Why can't we join the Thalmor?

Post » Fri May 25, 2012 7:04 pm

I guess so. *sigh*

I'd just hate to see the next ES game follow that wonderful trend of 'oppress the elves' that so many other fantasy games are falling into. It worked in Dragonage, it wont work here.

I mean when the Thalmor fall, will all the other races take it out on the elves? All the elves?

Also the Stormcloaks were not exactly a 'fair' side to choose...especially if you were an elf. You were working towards your own extermination.

Why not take a chance and let them win, or if nothing let them gain an even stronger foot hold on the lands.

It would be interesting.

The Nords have had a hatred for elves since at least 1998. Around ten years before Dragon Age existed.

GUYS,

theres no underlying the fact that if the thalmore win = NO MORE GAMES FROM ELDER SCROLLS :cold:
Pretty much this. It's not that the Thalmor are evil, we can do evil things and join evil factions in ES if we choose to. It's the fact that their ultimate goal is to unmake existence forever that makes them unjoinable. A complete and total Thalmor victory means the end of the Elder Scrolls universe.

Well, Amaund Motierre was ready to step into the Emperor's shoes, and if you killed him, I imagine one of the others on the Elder Council will simply do the same.

True, but you are also given the option to eliminate him (which I did).... I can't think of any other assassin quests from the other TES games that had the potential to change a game as much as that one. Also it seems from game to game the "hero" only does the things in the main quest line, but whether acknowledging the DB quest line in the next TES game or not could have a rather large impact.... Not just is the assassination of an emperor a huge event but the fact that the DB was the group that did it could easily make a huge resurgence for that group that has been in decline for hundreds of years.

...Because they hate you, for the most part.

I'm roleplaying an Aldmeri defector, who mostly agrees with most things except for the slavery bit. She finds that excessive.

Murder and genocide are okay. But slavery... that's crossing a line.

I disagree. There can always be ones that can stand up to the reign.Plus,I'd be very sad if ALL the Altmer were like Thalmor.I mean,Thalmor is the leading faction of the Dominion, not the Dominion itself. And taking the chance to establish a new reign when one is starting to weaken cannot be called evil. It's the way history flows.Even Septim Empire was found by overthrowing the previous one.
Thalmor are bad guys, for sure, but I still want some love for Altmer. They are a %100 original TES race only to be declared the orcs of the universe? They really deserve better.

You can't join them because they don't want you.
