Why can't I pickpocket Draugr and Falmer?

Post » Wed Jun 13, 2012 8:39 am

I'm playing a non-sneak destruction / illusion mage high elf. I would really like to take away those ebony warhammers away from those draugr so they can't hit me or there minions with it and take away those nasty poisons and crab weapons off of those super-falmer. I don't think there is a mod for this, but I also wonder why the develepers made this decision, I pretty much can't pickpocket almsot half the enemies in the game.

They're not considered humans but 'creatures' and pickpocket is hardcoded to be available only with NPCs.

So mods won't be able to change it?

wait, so let me get this straight. I can pickpocket steel plate armor off of a bandit but I can't take away the weapon off a Snow-Elf.

They're just too icky. Every time you try to reach into what passes for their pockets, you can't suppress an "Eeew!" and give yourself away.

Why don't you just stab em with a dagger?

I'm pretty sure an ebony Warhammer isn't in their pocket.

My character is non-sneak. I just put calm spells on people and pickpocket their weapons away while there calm.

It's lame that you can't. If they're carrying stuff then you should be able to pickpocket the same things that you can from other humanoids. I didn't know this stuff and had toyed with the idea of getting that perk from the Pickpocketing Tree. Glad I didn't. I would have been peeved.

Because the Draugr can detect life at 1 inch and the Falmer can detect body heat at the same range. As a result, regardless of skill level, perks, equipment, or potions, your chance of success is always zero.

The game makers implemented this by not letting you try.

I don't think it would make much of a difference, any time I disarm (Bash or DIsarm shout), the Falmer and Draugr run until they find a new (usually better) weapon.

Oddly, NPC's don't really do that, any time I disarm them, they either go for the weapon they just lost, or (if it gets snatched up) get all fisticuffs.

If anyone feels like this can be possibly modded, send me a pm. I'll enjoy your mod immensely.

Some Draugr don't even wear pants, hence no pockets, and Falmer have loincloths, again no pockets.......

It's stupid at a basic level because of the realistic stuff you mentioned. But its also not stupid because it'd be weird if you could pickpocket other creatures. Like it'd be more stupid if you could steal the pelt/tooth off a lion, or the scrap metal off a dwemer, whle it was still alive.

I always found it weird how you could steal someones weapon or armour without them noticing. Since the Falmer are blind maybe it's impossible to steal from them since they're probably extra sensitive or something haha.

I'm not asking to pickpocket a Draugr's armor or an animal's pelt. What I am saying is, since I have the perk that allows me to snatch a weapon off a foes hands, I should have access to taking a falmer or Draugr's weapon.

White souls don't have pockets.

If you want to entertain yourself though, go pickpocket a Briarheart.

Best way to kill the most fearsome enemies in the game.
