So why couldn't rpg's like Skyrim be more like Baldur's gate

Seriously, I'm sure everyone could agree with me on this. Baldur's gate offers the most powerful and in-depth story out of all the rpg's I have ever played. So why couldn't gaming companies look to this game and see what made it so great? I mean I've been playing Baldur's gate forever still and I love the game to death!

I guess dragon age is the game that comes closest to what I am talking about in some ways. It had a really cool storyling to everything and everyone but everything else was meh. But a truly immersive and suspenseful story with really cool gameplay, the most epic and awesome music, I mean...the world of dnd is just far superior compared to all the other rpgs out there.

Also did you guys check out the Baldur's gate enhanced edition website recently? You get to play as a blackguard!! A freakin blackguard OMG!!! I can't wait for it to come which I think is September 18th. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

And some of the new characters look badass too like that bald guy whose covered in tattooe's whats his face? I forget but still can't for Baldur's gate enhanced edition!!

Because they don't want to.

There's plenty of reasons why. Changing demographic, changing expectations, changing technology, or simply changing intention.

I, personally, didn't care for Balders Gate. I much prefer developers do what THEY want and not base their ideas on what others did.

Sadly it's because the majority of gamers don't want amazing gameplay and a great story they just want shiny graphics.
