So at the begining of the game, as you look around the ark you woke up in you see that everyone else who was in your ark is dead. Some of them look like they've decayed a bit too.

I was wondering if anyone knows why this is. I can see from a gameplay perspective e.c.t, but there was no explanation for it (and come to think of it, alot of RAGE's story)

I didn't read the book but I think I read somewhere that the nanotrites didn't take well in everyones body. Main character was the "warrior" of the ark so it would make sense that he would be able to tolerate it better maybe?

I haven't read the book (yet!), but as I understand it, there was an earthquake that either exposed your Ark or caused your Ark to surface prematurely. I agree that this isn't well-explained in the game.

When the SDK comes out, I'm kind of tempted to make a new intro cinematic ... and part of the reason would be to explain why your Ark surfaced when it did and why it was full of dead people. Those might be separate, though: I might just find a new voice actor to replace the Ark computer's voice and better explain what is going on.

I have started reading it and this ^^ is what I got out of it. It seems it was localized to your own ark and others (that surfaced before you) died mainly because as they surfaced the authority enslaved or bandits killed them.

Have not finished so if there are any plot twist/reveals I may not know.

If you look around the Ark interior you'll see that various systems are quite obviously broken. There's cracked glass, broken computers, sparks flying, etc. Obviously something bad happened and you just got lucky. There's no reason to know what that something bad was, you were in hibernation while it happened of course, so you've no way of knowing.

Oh, Is there a book called RAGE... ? I didn't know, have to read it I agree with the posts above and thinkk exactly the same, nanotrites aren't good for everybody, it's some kind of experiment...
