Why does every Imperials camp have an NPC that can't die?

Post » Thu Aug 02, 2012 9:53 pm

Since I am a sworn Stormcloak I attack any imperials camp I find. Each camp has one guy that can't be killed.
Anybody know the reason for this? Why would some low level officer be that important to the game?

the same is true for Stormcloak camps, both have one Important NPC in each camp, I don't no the reason for it though.

Maybe they were saved for a quest that was never implemented, and they forgot to change it? Or maybe its for a future DLC. If you're on the computer, you can click on them whilst using the Command Box and then type Disable. If you've not... well there's nothing you can do.

Yeah, it's annoying. I have orders to assist in the elimination of the remaining Stormcloaks, but every camp it seems just has a Stormcloak That Won't Die. They were probably essential characters that Bethesda forgot to have tagged non-essential after the civil war quest was completed.

Because Bethesda hates you personally and wants to ruin your fun, of course.

But seriously,

Originally, the civil war quests would have been heavily radiant, with multiple repeatable quests and full sieges of cities like the one on Whiterun. These missions would come from your field CO, the essential officer -- every camp and every city has one.

It is possible that the resolution to the civil war was last-minute, and originally it had no ending, which explains why the officers remain essential after you take the opposing side's capital city.

It's entirely possible to simply down the officer and kill the rest, if you are inclined to bloodshed.

Yeah I thought it was lame also.
So I just used this: http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/8060/

Steam has it also.

It doesn't make sense, after you finish the civil war quests you are enforced to destroy these camps. I would think that when you are done with the quests the NPCs would become kill-able. Maybe there is some sort of summit with the officers in an expansion or something. Maybe the captains should have fled to a safer spot after the quests and the soldiers are just stationed there. They could have done something.

So you are not able to eliminate every single Imperials in the game - therefore don't end up nothing to do with a char focused on that. Because that would mean you are practically deliberated Skyrim (even the got don't notice it), and the most important sidequest in the game doesn't make sense anymore.

Of course, it could have been made without essential Officers - for example, when you kill one, the game refills at least one, already cleared camp with soldiers. You can't be at two places at the same time, right? Regenerating custom looks and names for new leaders shouldn't be a problem either. All these features takes a little more time and energy compared to what we finally got.

What's more fun for me is that after finishing the civil war (stormcloak side) you get into this roleplay of hating imperials and they spawn in groups, so naturaly you attack them and get a nice bounty for attacking them. To add to the fun since you have a nice bounty all guards nearby (now stormcloaks) start attacking you!!! It gets better when you go to an imperial camp near the windhelm area and start killing them. The camp has about 6-8 imperials, each dead one earns you a bounty of 1000 IN WINDHELM WTF?!?!?!? and since you cannot kill the leader there are witnesess still alive so now you can't go and explain that to Ulfric 'cause he'll start attacking you :stare:

I've never had a bounty for attacking an imperial camp 0.o

However, it would be nice if they would fix this essential tag mistake (unless its the foundations for an upcoming DLC) as I must admit part of me grinds its teeth every time I see the enemy camp icon on the compass...

lol, there's a time of day in Riften where everyone is hanging out in the Bee and Barb and every NPC is highly unlikeable. At which point, I see Letrush and since I know what he's capable of I decide that I had enough and Frenzy the place... err yeah, Someone should have came out when I arrived at Riften: "Welcome to Riften, where no one ever dies"

Yeah but it's people like the guy from riften who asks you to get the briars horse, when I got the horse for him I decided I was gonna keep it. I ended the quest to get the gold and then I killed him to keep the horse, got my bounty up, then low and behold he gets right back up? So now I get a bounty for assault/attempted murder and theft because he's invincible.

Krypton evidently shed more rejects into other worlds, he's invincible, he can multiply, wait til he starts shooting lasers with his nostrils, then you'll REALLY hate him.

Nope, I had a random event, where a Thug walked up to Louis Letrush
Spoiler
outside the Twilight Sepulcher
and said "Maven sends her regards." before whacking him with a greatsword. Might have been added with Dawnguard though.

Because obviously no one would ever want to play an overzealous Stormcloak that goes out and exterminates every Legion camp.
