Why don't bodies disappear and people respawn?

Post » Sat May 12, 2012 8:54 am

For some reason bodies of slain guards, NPC's or quest targets do not disappear. Its starting to clutter up certain city streets and such. Also It may affect performance.
Maybe not now but I assume soon if the system does nothing about it. So anyone have any tips on why this is happening or what I can do about it?

If your playing on PC i'm guessing you could probably use the resurrect console command (providing the commands been carried over from Oblivion and Fallout 3) but I have the same problem on 360 when a random guard in Whiterun spawned in the air and fell to his death.

I just drag them into a corner somewhere, or dump them in a river.

This is not a glitch.. this is intentional, in order to make the game more realistic.. Bethesda is attempting to convey the fact that death is serious, and permanent (beyond necromancy). I personally love it.. I [censored] hate killing someone, then going to another town, returning, and seeing the person I just killed wandering around as if I hadn't murdered them brutally. If your system is having issues with this (which I don't know HOW it could, considering I am playing on 360, with no issues with this whatsoever..) you probably need to upgrade your hardware or something..

Firstly, I like the fact that NPCs don't respawn. Like someone else has said, it makes the game more realistic. Secondly, to drag bodies, hold down whichever button it is you use to activate/pickpocket/loot them, after a second or so you'll be able to drag them around, this also work for items if you want to move them.

It's just stupidly messy, and makes the save files ever larger as time goes on and the bodies pile up. It got ridiculous in Fallout 3/NV.

Just more 'stuff' laying around to cause potential problems for no good reason.

Let's have some REALISM!!

Bodies decay, or are eaten by scavengers. Bodies in cities are removed and buried (or whatever)

Clean up, Bethesda!
