Why don't developers ever include splitscreen ?

what is it with developers thinking every one has same console and no real life family members or friends :/

so many games now the only form of multiplayer is online

and its not like it would take up much space to include the n64 back in the 90's which had what 64 mbs of ram had split screen

It makes them more money if everyone has to buy their own copy of a game instead of a playing at a friend's house.

The days of Goldeneye and Starfox 64 splitscreen multiplayer have long since past I'm afraid. The only games anymore with that option are kart racing games.

IMHO, splitscreens are gone... next-gen consoles and Steambox all support multiple monitors/TVs. I wouldnt be surprised if they made one series for that purpose only.

This is a development I'm not overly fond of. It's so much more fun to play a game together with a friend next to you on the couch, than online. As far as I know, most couch multiplayer games this console generation been the Nintendo games

Although back when http://www.gamesas.com/forum/102-hunted-general-discussion/ was in development, half a year before it was released there was a bit of a fan outcry regarding the lack of splitscreen since the game focused so much on playing co-op, and a splitscreen was included for the console versions before the release! Very cool, but I later tried it with my sister once and thought it was poorly done unfortunately.

Fairly sure all Serious Sam games have it. But those are seriously oldschool all over :P.

Theee are still a few games that use split screen, but I agree they are two few and far in between. I'm more of an offline player overall. Goldeneye...... what a great time for console multiplayer ?
