why is dragon armor so weak?

Post » Sun May 20, 2012 8:44 am

Just unlocked dragon armor today and made the chest and helm, and decided to compare it to the daedric armor i had been wearing, and both improved to legendary the daedric had a higher armor rating and a little more weight, i mean i get that maybe dragon armor requires cheaper or easier to aquire materials especially if you saved up the bones and scales, but what gives? Shouldnt dragon armor at least be on par with daedric armor seeing as its 10 skill higher in the smithing tree? Maybe the rest of the armor has a few more points comparatively and im missing something, thoughts?

Doesn't make sense to me, either. Maybe it's because you need rarer ingredients for Daedric.

That's what i was thinking but still, I put points into conditioning and i have the steed stone (unfortunately found out about this after i already had conditioning) so it really does me no good that its just lighter, almost not even as cool looking to be honest, Daedric looks pretty legit in this game.

Has anybody compared dragonscale? is the light armor version of it the best for light armor?

And yeh, Daedric armor appears to be the best craftable.

As far as armor rating is concerned, Dragon Scale Armor is marginally better than Glass. But late in the Thieves' Guild quest line you get (marginally) better armor. Enchantments are another matter, though.

The best heavy armor, and the best in game, as far as I know. Again, as far as armor rating is concerned.

The main advantage of dragon stuff is that it's cheap to make, since you get the signature ingredients for free in large quantities. Heavy is not much worse than Daedric but you can use those hearts on weapons instead, and so on.

Well, look at it this way. Daedric is better, but Dragon HAS to be at the top.. Or you would have to fill up the heavy armor side aswell to get Dragon Scale.

Actually found it annoying that it doesn't work like a circle. I had to get the heavy armor side just to be able to make Daedric weapons, but I wear light armor so that entire side is useless to me.

Ingredients for daedric armor are anything but "rare"

You can get Daedra Hearts from every single apothecary vendor in the game. Just cycle their inventory by waiting a few days if none currently have it.
You can get Ebony Ingots from every single blacksmith in the game. See above.
Obviously leather strips are easy to get =P

Some of us may not want to play like that...

Okay so RP your character and go adventuring and just check the towns every couple of days instead of waiting 72 hours like i did.

Sheesh... the people on these forums.

why not play like that, it's just like real life. You have to wait for what you want sometimes. Like skyrim, we wanted it, but had to wait for it.

The circle left or right Daedric armor requires the same amount of skill points. I think, while Dragon armor is easier to get going light armor.

I do that, and I don't have enough hearts to make a full set of armor at level 40. You have enough dragon bones for a full set very early. (But as I wrote, I wear light armor, so I don't really go out of my way to find hearts.)
